If Words Are Powerful....Then This Matters: 20 Days Til BlogBlast For Peace

The 20 Day countdown in 2010 begins to
BlogBlast For Peace
with quotations and prose from famous peace activists - You

I am listening to the voices of peace bloggers.
I have long maintained that while there is significant noise in numbers, the real power of the peace globe movement lies in the eloquent prose buried deep in the pages of peace posts from Nigeria to Switzerland. Across the diverse ocean divide known as the blogosphere, there are real neighborhoods and real people who one day found themselves scribbling the words Dona nobis pacem - Grant us peace on a blue graphic, unaware that in this great age of lightning fast technology, enemies and foreign foes alike were forming a not-so-silent treaty; and as the voices grew in depth and diversity I began to see the possibility that a revolution of change might truly begin.
I know this because it began in me.

Lizza ~ I Am Woman, See Me Blog! from the Philippines who put hundreds of your little tiny peace globes on one globe.

There is power in that possibility when such an effort is led by people who place integrity before political influence or sway. They are proof that a grassroots cry can precipitate awareness and hope. You are proof that what the heart longs for and dares to express can be a catalyst for freedom; and when you sing it mightily, mighty things happen.  There are now 50 countries involved in this movement known as BlogBlast For Peace. The results continue to inspire me and others.  A growing number of  peace activists see it, and other efforts like it, as the way to breakthrough the silence and facilitate the noise we need to make on a global level - as a community of people who long for an unarmed world and neighborhoods of kindness instead of killing.

But when people are not allowed to speak, hope is forever silenced and change has no chance.......because silence is the greatest partner to apathy and apathy is the greatest threat of all. My hope is that this movement will continue to harness and illuminate the goodness and imagination of people whose hearts truly long for peace and tolerance.  It is my belief that massive change always starts with momentum born of passion and unrest.
Let our words start the flood of permanent peace.
If we believe that words are powerful.....then this matters.

Day 20 From Sicily Scene in Italy ~ Peace Globe #1506 ~ by Welshcakes Limocello
She writes:  "My grandfather, to whom I have dedicated my peace globe, was blinded at the Battle of Jutland and as far as I know, did not feel that there was any glory in it.
Once when I was on the brink of womanhood I asked my father why nations glorify war: "There is no glory in war but sometimes men do glorious deeds in war", he replied and that is the wisest answer I have ever received to this question.

Is there a “just war” then? perhaps the question should be, “Is there a just peace?” for if we could attain this, it is possible there would be no need for war."

We will launch again November 4, 2010.
You have a voice.
What will you say?

I'll be speaking.

My word verification was "mourn". Seriously. I can say that I will not mourn the day when there is less hate and more peace in the world.
