19 Days Til BlogBlast For Peace ~ Listening to The Voice of A Gal and an Artist From Chicago
I am listening to the voices of peace bloggers.
I have long maintained that while there is significant noise in numbers, the real power of the peace globe movement lies in the eloquent prose buried deep in the pages of peace posts from Nigeria to Switzerland. But when people are not allowed to speak, hope is forever silenced and change has no chance.......because silence is the greatest partner to apathy and apathy is the greatest threat of all. My hope is that this movement will continue to harness and illuminate the goodness and imagination of people whose hearts truly long for peace and tolerance. It is my belief that massive change always starts with momentum born of passion and unrest.
Let our words start the flood of permanent peace.
If we believe that words are powerful.....then this matters.
Day 19 from The Gal Herself @ One Gal's Musings ~ Chicago
Her headline reads (and is animated! It spins!)
"Imagine no handgun violence. It's easy if you try..."
on BlogBlast For Peace Day dawned, so did the killings at Fort Hood. It was a sobering comparison.
and listen to the voice of fellow Chicagoan Francis Scudellari
who abstracts art from life on his blog
Caught In The Stream and shares this original piece on peace globe #1107
"Terraforming Peace"
It looks positively grounded in connectivity

When I think of peace, I dream of it for my city of Chicago. Violent crime overall is down, and for that I'm grateful, but child-on-child crime is on the rise and it's heartbreaking. Too many gangs, too many guns and not enough PEACE. While of course I love the idea -- as John Lennon sang -- of "war is over, if you want it," I hope we all remember to pray for peace in our own back yards.
I can't tell you what I will say or it will spoil the surprise
Still pondering... but I think the Gal is right - peace begins in our own backyards.
My post is coming along nicely. I'm really looking forward to this Blog Blast Day.
