Pop Quiz! Which United States President Is Married To A Pencil Skirt?

Question #1: Which one of these is a pencil skirt?

If you said 2 & 3 then you get extra credit time with me after school. Correct!

Forget about the G20 Summit in London and protests in the streets.
Forget that life-as-we-economically-know-it has just gone down the latrine. Forget there is impending disaster on the North Korean launch pad pointed at Sarah Palin's backyard.
Forget that the Queen of England stole my peonies and put 'em in her hat.

Forget all that.

Michelle Obama is wearing a pencil skirt sans a purse
all over the United Kingdom today.

She knows how to get attention.
What else would you wear to 10 Downing Street to meet the Queen?

Note: A true pencil skirt is form-fitting and restricts movement, accentuating ever-so-slightly-and-sensually the curves of a woman's arsenal er....body. They are snug enough to be flattering but not tawdry tight. In the early 1900s the grandmother of the modern day pencil skirt was called a "hobble skirt" for obvious reasons. See? Not much of a chance that she'll run off anywhere in a hurry.....

No wardrobe is complete without the trusty pencil skirt. I have at least one, two, ten, twelve oh, three or four of them in varying colors and lengths. We all know life began with the pencil skirt.

Listen. In the interest of international peace diplomacy I'm willing to forget the fleur-de-hat incident. I know that "other Queen" has issues with my skirt since our last meeting at the White House in 2007, but let's face it, if not for the pencil skirt there wouldn't have been a story today in the news at all!

I wonder if one day - one day soon - the world will realize who the real pencil skirt Queen really is? I'd better get my laundry done just in case.
The First Lady of the United States might need fashion advice.

Do you think she'd let me be her First Pencil Skirt In Waiting?

And if that happens (!!!!) then she could introduce me to her husband (he's the President you know!!!!) and if that happens (!!!!) maybe I could convince him to fly a peace globe.
It's all part of my master plan.

When it comes right down to it, it's all about the peace globes.

And that is a good thing.

Forget First Lady... you should be President.

Mimi Lenox said...

Charles - It's not often a pencil skirt makes the headline news. I'm hoping to change that...,

Mimi Lenox said...

Southern - Of course!

Mimi Lenox said...

Bond - I could! Be still my heart.

Mimi Lenox said...

Anndi - But do you think anyone would listen to a pencil skirt with an imaginary Kingdom?
And would they let Homer live in the White House?
Think about it....

Love the pencil skirt!

I think a pencil skirt would be a bad choice on my "form." lol Maybe one day I'll give it a shot, though.

as long as you get to keep the wand...

You know, you kinda remind me of Jackie O, Mimi. Classic and refined.

You are the most elegant pencil skirt-wearer I know. I can't wear one of those things. Too form fitting. And I don't wear heels, and I imagine one must always wear heels with a pencil skirt.

Mimi Lenox said...

Katherine - Maybe I'd better ask about that. I haven't used the "magic bleeper" in quite a while.
I'm overdue!

Oh....you mean the Queen wand....
I'll just wave bye now.

Mimi Lenox said...

Patti - I can't believe it's been a year since we met off-blog in Connecticut. What a lovely thing to say. Yes, always heels (which get kicked off as soon as I get home if not before)

I try not to hit Homer as they're flinging.

Mrs Obama's fashions were splashed all over the daily papers here this week. She's been a big hit.

I think Sasha and Malia doing peace globes would be great. How about dropping a line to the head of Sidwell FRiends with a suggestion of a really great computer project for all the students.

Travis Cody said...

I have a much better position for you. You should be Queen of Education!

Mimi Lenox said...

Akelamalu - It's been interesting to follow. Did you catch a glimpse?

Mimi Lenox said...

Jamie - What a wonderful thought. Will do it! Why not?

Mimi Lenox said...

Trav - That job would be much harder than President!!

We listen... and who doesn't love a dog in the White House?

Mimi Lenox said...

Eric - Well, it doesn't match your Photoshop skills...but it was fun placing myself in the midst of their toast with a peace globe. Bwaahhaahhhh....

Why am I laughing? It could happen!

P.S. I was up ridiculously late last night for sure. Stop peeking! Can a Queen have no privacy?

Mimi Lenox said...

Anndi - I stand corrected. I'll tell Homer he might need some luggage after all....

Did you see that skirt that Mrs. Gordon Brown wore to 10 Downing? She could give lessons on how NOT to wear a pencil skirt! I believe that, as Queen, you could have her decapitated for this offense, or at least jailed in the dungeon.
