I Don't Want Time To Rewrite The Lines
I want to own them.
This is what I saw when I looked in the mirror.
Emotionally: I opened up. I took chances. I trusted.
I think I gave all of me.I loved deeply.
Relationships: From my pen and my heart they were strong and honest.
I learned to say it, say it, say it.
I learned to set boundaries. I learned to set free.
Spiritually: I re-evaluated my need for peace, quiet, and prayer.
Me time has never been better.
God finds me quite amusing.
Physically: I managed to rid myself of cholesterol reducing medications (statins will kill ya) One episode of kidney issues and leg cramps was all it took to say NO MORE.
I changed my diet and continued to exercise an hour or more a day. I found out, by process of elimination, which foods were making me sick. I added vitamins, Folic Acid and lots of fish. I very rarely eat red meat. Wheatgerm and shredded wheat are my friends. Green Tea flavors my water.
I stopped eating preservatives, slashed my caffeine intact (no sodas) and cut out white sugar. I now take NO prescription drugs (except for the occasional stress-induced migraine necessity) and my cholesterol is 131 (down from 303).
My body feels cleansed without the chemical substitutions. I will continue to tweak the diet this year. But I refuse to relinquish the Cheetos.
I maintained my ideal weight.
I reversed my bone loss completely and continue to maintain it with nightly calcium (chocolate calcium Viactin!) and moderate strength training.
I ate bananas, bananas and more bananas and nuts to rebalance a potassium loss.
My health improved. Yay!
Fiscally/Practically: I managed to save money.
I learned the lightbulb principle of paying myself first. Eureka!
I reclaimed my home after a burglary/invasion and installed mucho security.
I owned my space.
Come on, big boys, just try it again.
You wanna mess with me?
Don't.
2009 will be the year to ...........
Continue to take care of ME -emotionally, spiritually and physically.
Keep up the exercise. Continue to sculpt and shape.
My priss needs a little new sass (ahem)...
Fulfill a few very personal promises I made to myself.
Put up with less crap from people.
Meet a few blogging girlfriends for a castle pajama party (anyone up for a girly makeup & wardrobe party at Bloggingham?) In the spring would be nice.
Spruce Bloggingham up a lot (looking for a handyman....)
The dungeon is truly a disaster.
Get a dog (a real one) Sorry, Homer.
Save more money.
Get very very silly very very often.
Dance my prissy behind up a storm.
Focus on singing and performing more. I've got my eye on a spring role I've always wanted to play.
Audition, Mimi.
Duh.
Read and relax more.
Get a new housekeeper. The old one broke everything she touched.
I'm tired of breaking nails dusting. Really.
Finish that writing! Make peace globes a larger annual instead of smaller bi-annual event. Get a corporate sponsor for peace globes. Got any ideas?
Blog smarter.
And #1......
Don't lose the vulnerability. Don't lose me.
Who wants to rewrite the lines?
I want to own them.
Don't you?
Now if you'll excuse me, Homer is having a nervous breakdown. "Don't worry, Pookie Dog. I have a handful of nicely chopped alfalfa sprouts for your dinner."
Do I have to take off my Santa hat now?

Excellent post, Your Highness. I truly admire your spunk. It really looks like 2008 was a pretty successful year, with 2009 showing a lot of promise. In fact, I think I'm just going to adopt your resolutions as my own. Of course I will have to make the female to male conversion where appropriate.
By the way, no fair discriminating against the male blogging community by having a female pajama party. I think there has to be a more appealing alternative.
I almost forgot...Homer's going to hate me for this, but the dog idea is especially outstanding! Just be sure to make it a rescue dog! If you need a source, I can help you with that! :0)
Lee - And thanks for the suggestion a while back of adding nuts to replace the bananas for potassium. Less fattening, more expensive, but worked just as well.
I suppose there is a more appealing alternative to the girly pajama party. I'll have to think on that one.
A rescue dog! Ha! You know me so well.
Drugs are WAY over perscribed. Big money to make!
By doing the healthy things may by harder in the "temtation? catagory, they are by far the best route in the long run.
As for being silly, smiles and laughter release natural chemicals in the brain that create well balanced happy people. It's aslo hard to stress about the past when you are making snow angels :-)
Sanity is truly in the eye of the beholder
I am going to nap!
ooops "temptation"
When will I start commenting with Firefox????
ehh, maybe tomorrow ((smile))
I am shocked. Homewr is the best dog. Well at Bloggingham. I still have a special place for Happy. I would never give up Happy for a real dog. Happy is VERY little work. Great post! Happy New Year! Hope you had a great New Years!
Eric - Yes, I like those natural chemicals better. "Sanity is truly in the eye of the beholder."
No doubt.
I would have to say that you had quite the year, my Queen, and knowing some of what you went through you deserve a standing ovation - several of them.
As for the sleepover, I'll have to kidnap Princess Patti from Prince Ralph for a few days and we'll make our way south to visit the famous dungeon, er, castle at Bloggingham. I'm sure that come spring we'll both be itching for some warmer locale for at least a bit of a respite!
Oh, but you have to promise to have wine and cake and lots of photo ops with or without plastic shrubbery!
Bud - I had a wonderful New Year's! I shall report. Hope you did too. You certainly deserve it.
Linda - No plastic shrubbery this time, my friend. That sounds like a plan! (But read above: Lee wants an invitation, too...) We have to consider it. He is only an hour and a half away. I don't think his wife will let him come to a pajama party....but perhaps a tea with the Queen and her royal sidekicks. We could Knight him or something!!
Between Lee and Me, we could be the Royal papparazzi.
Think of it... your half-face could be on every Blabloid in the world!
Mojo - That totally cracked me up! Blabloid....what a great word. You have the Queen's English down to an exact science. If there is a meeting in Bloggingham of bloggers from afar, we have to invite you and Lee. It just wouldn't be right otherwise. Ferd and his wife will be here soon as well!
I think they would be rather stupid to mess with you again Mimi. You can get a real dog and still have Homer :)
Shannon - I could never get rid of my Pookie Homer. He drives me crazy but hey....I drive most men crazy sooner of later (or so I've heard) so why not? Turn about is fair play.
Love this post! We're tracking a bit, in that when I get home I have vowed to work at being HEALTHIER, not thinner. (Though I know I'm too weak to give up my Classic Coke.) And I love that you believe God finds you amusing. So here's to 2009!
If I made resolutions, these are some that I might make and keep.
I'm looking forward to sharing a bit of your 2009 journey.
Cheers my dear!
Gal - Healthier was my goal last year as well. I will trudge on. And like you with the coke, refuse to give up my Cheetos.
Travis - Cheer to you as well!
White sugar is my bete noir =(
Glad to hear you've had such accomplishments in your personal life, especially the cholesterol reduction. I actually have the opposite problem: my overall cholesterol is only 129, but my good cholesterol has been low for a long time - it was once too low to be measured (less than 4)!
I'm still working on my weight, as are you - I've had some good losses, but I still need to get just a bit lower, and it's not easy. (Few things are, physically, when we get older, are they?) I'm trying to focus away from weight and focus more on body fat mass - muscle weighs more than fat, right?
I'm also relieved to hear you've beefed up the Castle Guard. So, you need a handy man? ;-)
Any time you want to dance that prissy behind up a lot more, you know how to reach me! And yes, there should be a co-ed party - wild horses couldn't keep me away! (OK, my boss' vacation schedule might, but I have my ways...)
Don - I am still a size 6 petite - as I've been for years. If I'm not careful I can actually lose too much and slip into 4s, which doesn't look "healthy".
Six is perfect for me.
Last year I focused on being "healthy" instead of obsessing over the size of my pencil skirt.
Weight gain has never been a problem for me but I do love to stay in shape.
Now if I could just find shoes to as easily. I wear a 5 1/2. Some stores don't even carry them!
All the best for 2009.
I hope you get as much done as you did this year- and yes, time for the Santa hat to go :)
What a strong lady you are! I'll settle for making myself move more. And making myself stop when I've had enough. Everything beyond that is torture. I've tried it. You're gonna have a fantastic 2009 'cause you're a fantastic person! :)
Oh my, don't I feel guilty for being so out of shape, Your Majesty.
Must do better in 2009 ~ and as for the pajama party, can I wear jeans instead?
Crushed - But I love the Santa hat. I'm going to throw a hissy fit.
Autumn - Well, thank you. I am looking forward to a fantastic 2009. I'll take it. The same to you!
Princess Patti - My blog is a NO GUILT ZONE. You are beautiful, dahling!
I did not make as much progress as you in 08...but we have similar quests for 09...happy new year Mimi!
For shoes, Mimsy, have you tried Zappos.com? I hear rumors that they're really good on selection and price.
(And your size-6 figure sounds absolutely wonderful!)
Oh Mimi....I am very impressed with how you have taken charge of your entire being! Kudos to you! You give me the desire to do the same!
You look very playful in your Santa hat...I say leave it on!
I hope we all stay vulnerable. God bless, Mimi.
