NaNoNaNoBOOBOO

You heard me.
Day 3 1/2 and I'm quoting childish chants.

Behold.

D
o you see Mimi here?

It's well past midnight and so far there is no Chapter Two. Day three should have a chapter three. I've changed the main character's name twice. Changed her age, her gender, her nationality, her psychosis, her location, her sexual orientation, her appearance, her disappearance and his gender back again.

Seventeen things I did when I was supposed to be writing my novel:
1. Thought about world peace
2. Thought about inner peace
3. Roamed through the woods taking pictures of wildflowers. See?

4. Went shopping for a mousetrap and lip gloss
5. Made coffee in anticipation of finishing the Great American Novel
6. Drank one pot of coffee in anticipation of finishing the Great American Novel
7. Thought some more about world peace.
8. Ate two slices of cheesecake I bought just for the NaNo blues
9. Thought about how many extra sit ups I'll have to do tomorrow because I ate too much cheesecake thinking about world peace
10. Curled - then twirled - my hair. (Film at 11)
11. Called my son on his birthday to talk about his love life. It's a sad day when one has to live vicariously through offspring for romance.
12. Shined up the crystal party glasses in anticipation of finishing Great American Novel
13. Did two loads of laundry and changed a light bulb.
14. Frolicked in the leaves. (Didn't come back to the house with inspiration like I'd hoped. Just a bunch of leaves.) See?
15. Tried to log on to NaNoWriMo to moan over Adrian's 4,000 word count only to see "Waiting for Librarian" over and over.
(Because she was busy counting Adrian and Morgen and Ian and Gale's words. DUH. I'm so depressed.
16. Created a Ramen noodles shrine and said 3 Hail Marys. (Morgen said it would work!)
17. Took pictures of the furniture to prove to my blogger friends that I am really writing the Great American Novel

How am I supposed to create a new world on paper when all I can see are a zillion little spinning globes humming peacefully through the universe? Isn't there supposed to be some big blog thing happening on November 7th??
I'm sooooooooo distracted.
Time for more cheesecake.

Tomorrow I'm going into town to buy a pipe (maybe cigars too), a smoking jacket (I really don't know what that is but it sounds literary), and a houndstooth coat because that's what all good detectives wear -and I'm looking for a story.

Then I'm going to the graveyard and see if I can steal a plot.

NOTE: I had the evidence of my brain affliction with more pics but Blogger will not allow me to post them. Why do they keep rejecting a photograph of Ramen noodles???!

Attention, friends of Miss Bee, November 4, 2006 is a special day for Miss Bee. There is a party going on at my blog, “sarge charlie”, which is on Miss Bee’s sidebar. Everyone is going to be there, stop on by and join the party.

Thinking about peace is great. You'll do NaNo just fine, I'll wager.

Heylo! I like your idea of promoting world peace through blog posts! So some how, some way, I followed links and ended up right here in your blog! It's a great idea, and I'm so going to take part in this online world peace promotion!

And hey, looks like you're in NaNoWriMo too! That's so cool! And me too! Me too! Oh boy! Lol! Wish you lots of luck in reaching that 50k milestone!

Wonderful! Is there a writer anywhere that can't always find something more important to do?

I must be a simpleton, too dorky for words. Nanowrmo worked for me because I thought the point was to write like a maniac, without editing, in order to end up with a book with a beginning, middle and end which could then be edited into The Great American Novel.

I have so much respect for all of you writing novels right now. I don't have the attention span. Best of luck and I'm doing my globe now...

I am not sure, but didn't Robin Williams say "NaNoNaNoBooBoo" or was it Yogi Bear? I always confuse the two...

Gem...Thank you. We all need some humor right about now. I'll see what I can do for you on my caper today!

Madd...Don't think I haven't thought about it. Actually, I'm alread formulating an idea for Peace Globe prose but didn't feel it was right for NaNo fiction at this time. Come November 8th I might change my mind though...NO! too many plot changes. I'll stick with my character Sarabelle and her nosey little self through November for this novel. Maybe I'll give her wings to flit about looking for globes.....hmmmm....Anyway, can't wait to read your post on Tuesday!

Can anybody help me get the yellow tint out of my picture? It was taken last fall in the sunshine but I look seriously jaundiced. Oh brother.

Mimi Lenox said...

Morgen....Mo can call Mims out anytime he so chooses. I need INSPIRATION! Apparently the noodles are not working.
See? They've made me jaundiced.

Mimi Lenox said...

Kat...You are quite right. I just lamented to Gale recently that I am taking the process way too seriously. I need to stream my crazy imagination onto the page and stop for nothing. Thank you for the affirmation.

Michael...I just got your globe. It is wonderful and so were your comments. Thank you.

Happy birthday to you yesterday - and NO READERS, Bud is not my son, they just happen to have the same birthday - about YOGI AND ROBIN....I'm not sure Yogi would be amused to be confused.

Go for it Mimi! You've started, and now you just got to get a huge lot a words down - doesn't matter the order, or the meaning. It's just got to be word count!

(I'd do it myself, if I had a double to run my life for me! :-))

One way for inspiration, is to wake up 10 mins earlier in the morning, and just start writing (absolutely doesn't matter what!) and keep on going until you run out of steam - gets you tuned into your subconscious [and I bet you have dozens of stories in there!]

Peace will be yours!

[...eventually! Probably after the end of November :-) )

Hi Mimi. I can't believe how you find time to keep up a terrific standard of blogging and write a novel. I haven't looked in here for a couple of days and had expected to find you had ignored your blog! Blimey, gel. How do you do it?

Mimi Lenox said...

Hi Bazza. The answer is....caffeine and a wicked competitive streak that won't let me quit. After Peace Globe Tuesday I'll have more time to devote to sarabelle The Novel
