Reason #32 to Blog4Peace ~ The Graduate
Each Spring about 1,000 cadets graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. Wouldn't it be incredible if Peaceful Maintenance 101 became the newest course offered, where cadets could prepare to guard, defend and protect if necessary, but the primary function would be one of peaceful service to civilians? Urban renewal, natural disaster assistance, preserving natural habitats and coastlines, public education volunteerism, building schools in foreign lands, building schools in OUR land or tending to the elderly in our society....just a few things needing tending to in the world today.
That would keep any duty bound proud Cadet busy for decades.
The Cadet Honor Code at West Point states that a cadet "will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do."
Sounds pretty basic to me.
The world shouldn't be so complicated. If we all adhered to the Cadet Honor Code maybe we'd have peace.
My reason #32 to Blog4Peace
Changing the course. Changing the mission.

Imagine, a military career with no engagement of an enemy with hostile intent.
Let's include the Midshipmen from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis and the Cadets from the US Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.
