Monday Mimisms ~ Freckles and Spring
So it's Monday. And it's Spring. Isn't it? I mean the last time I checked the calendar it SAID it was Spring 2011. But when I poke my head out the window I feel Winter in all its ugly glory. Until I see little promises of life poking out in Bloggingham's woods. I can count 41 white blooming dogwoods up the mountain from my back door. And see pink azaleas. And this.....
This is my grandmother's lavender azalea bush. I had it transplanted to Bloggingham from her yard where it thrived for over forty years before I planted it in the edge of my own yard.
When it blooms - as it is now - I remember her whimsy wrinkled nose, her beauty, her strength.
The speckles remind me of her freckles.

We had sunshine and some blue sky amidst the clouds today, and temps in the 50s. That's a springlike day in April in the northwest.
Now the clouds are coming in and it's supposed to rain for the rest of the week. That's springlike in April in the northwest.
So you're on the normal side. Our weather is just up and down crazy all the time this year. Crazy!
Plants are such a great way of remembering people. And sharing plants is a great way of preserving them too. And you have Swallowtails already?? I'm envious.
We had sun, warmth and butterflies in February but after Winter figured out she must have hiccupped or something, it's been nothing but clouds, rain and cold with a sunny-but-cold and windy day thrown in every once in a while to tease us.
I love how the azaleas remind you of your grandmother.

What a beautiful memory/reminder of your grandma!!!
That butterfly appears grateful to your grandmother as well. Just beautiful.
