Monday Mimisms ~ D minor In the Key of Happy

So here we are back in Blogland after a much needed walk on the beach. I'm sure you're tired of seeing beach pictures by now so I'll spare you. Instead I thought I'd share with you a few beach pictures. But not without purpose and forethought as is my usual so so NOT custom.
And that is exactly my point. Follow?

When I say I craved the ocean before I left, I kid you not. I was on a mission.
There is nothing like the freedom of going to a place where no one knows you (of course, that did cause me great concern but I digress.) Here are a few life lessons I learned while away:

1. You know you rented the right condo
when the first thing you see is this
I kid you not

2. Clothes are highly overrated.
I took off down the street in my bathing suit, T shirt, flip flops and sunglasses without thinking. My mission? Ice cream. Nothing less. Nothing more. I stepped out of the car, looked down at myself and said, "Where are my PANTS?!!" Then I saw that everyone else was dressed the same way. Yippee! What freedom.
(That photograph seems to be missing)

3. Makeup is highly highly overrated.
Dark glasses and a tan are much better than Clinique in a jar.
And SPF 70 is good for Her Lily White Highness. Follow?

4. Strangers can be very kind.
Not once did I pose myself on the tilty beach trying to twist and turn to take my own picture without some kind stranger asking if they could do it for me. Many times. Most every time. At first I was afraid they might take off with my camera, but after the first gentleman seemed delighted to be able to do this small gesture for me, I relaxed and didn't hesitate henceforth. (See. When I say words like henceforth that's how you know I'm royal bred) Of course I knew they were asking because of my royal heritage but they didn't know that. Follow?

5. Sea air is good for what ails you.
Your skin glows, your hair tangles nicely and not once did I hiccup while I was gone. Not once!

6. Thinking about NOTHING AT ALL is phenomenal!!!!
I fell asleep in my chair (until someone stole my chair which is another story altogether), I had not one troubling thought in my brunette head and not one care in the world. In fact, a time or two I thought to look for my thoughts but thought better of it. Follow?
7. Getting toppled by a wave made me laugh and laugh and laugh.
I did not care who was looking. You weren't looking were you?

8. Good things happen if you don't forgot thisBut shopping was interesting.....
Where did that shirt come from?

I don't care what Led Zeppelin said... THIS is the Stairway To Heaven
and last but not least

10. The sound of the ocean is D minor in the Key of Happy
See you tomorrow with some funky things I found at the shore.
Unless I....oh! I seem to have left my bag on the pier. I'd better go back and see if it's still there.

LOL, Mimi!

Possibly important hiccup tip:

I used to get them all the time. Then my friend told me about an acupressure move that stops them cold. Now if they show up, I do the move - et voilĂ  - gone.

When I moved back home to help take care of my gram, I discovered that she was prone to hiccups as well. I showed her the move - et voilĂ  - she was fine. Keep in mind my gram was a Big Time Sceptic.

The move? Within the first few hiccups (no later - if you don't catch them immediately, the move will not work) press your thumb and index finger together as if you're doing the okay sign. Use both hands. Press firmly. No namby-pambiness. Nice and firm. Hold this for as long as you might hold your breath. In fact, I generally do both.

In less than a minute, no more hiccups.

Julia - Walking around half-naked all the time was awesome!

Hiccups: REaLLLLY?? That is so good to know. My Papa had them once for 3 days straight and had to go to the doctor. It made him quite sick. Thanks for the great tip!

so...essentially you are putting me to shame as I don't have my beach pictures developed yet (yes I still use a camera with "film")

Your shots are very regal...

Charles - Fishermen you had to be careful when someone threw a line over their shoulder! But the sunsets from there were incredible. And there's a gazebo at the end that is just breathtakingly awesome.
And now I want to get in my car and go back. Right now!!!

What a delightful place. Hope you remember you pants now you are home.

Mimi Lenox said...

Bond - Well, I never thought so until last week. But I let myself have fun and getting knocked down was worth it.

Jean-Luc - That made me laugh out loud.

No hiccups eh?

What a great trip! Lovely pictures!
Everything about the ocean is peaceful and soothing... the sunshine, the breezes, the occasional Corona with lime, the steady sound of the waves, the wide open space, the walks along the beach, the release of tension and worry, and the opening of the mind and spirit. I'm glad you did that for yourself, Mimi!
BTW, you do know "Corona" means crown, right?
