Monday Mimisms: I'm 21! Judd Said So.

Sort of. I know I'm late to the party but Friday sort of melted into Saturday and Saturday slid into Sunday and now here it is Monday and I'm behind on my memeing and such. Sort of. So Sunday Stealing gets told on Monday. And I get to share 21 new epiphanies with all of you. I know you're all jumping for joy. I had to travel way back before sliced bread to find these answers. I've lived a lot of life to be twenty-one.

Click to play the Twenty Firsts Meme

First Job: Waitress in my grandmother's restaurant. I was the worst waitress on the planet. Seriously. I wore a blue uniform with a white apron and a hairnet over my ponytail. OMG the torture!
And I survived.

First Real Job: I was a Kelly Girl. Does that count? Contrary to popular belief, Kelly Girls did not stand on the street corner and are now called something other than "girls". They did make horrendous wages, however, most of which went to the Kelly company. I made $3.50 an hour and could type 90 words a minute. One of the worst jobs I had was as a file clerk. That's a glorified name for standing-on-my-feet-8-hours-in-front-of-a-file-cabinet and alphabetizing invoices. I nearly fell asleep just typing that! The company was so big there were three 4-drawer file cabinets just for the letter A!!! I kid you not. It took me all week to get to Z.

First Favorite Politician:

Why? Are we voting them off the island?

First Car: An embarrassingly large black thing that was terrible on gas and bad for my prissy image. My once-upon-a-husband thought it was "practical."
Sigh.
I couldn't park it to save my life.
Then one day I grew up and got my own car. It was red. And smaller. That was better.

**I got a sunburn this weekend. OUCH.**

First Record/CD: There were no CDs. Barbra Streisand's Live In Central Park 1968 album.
I wore it out.

First Sport Played:

Softball. Short stop, of course.
My dad coached the local Men's Softball League and Little League baseball for my brothers. It was the community thing to do. I lived and breathed baseball and thought the local ballpark was my second home. I remember falling asleep on the bleachers because of a looooong game and my dad picking me up and carrying me to the car. Funny. When I think of that memory, I still smell the 5 cent bubblegum and see the fireflies behind the fence.

First Concert:
John Denver 1975. Yes, I said John Denver. My boyfriend took me a John Denver concert and then became my husband for a mere quarter of a century. You just had to ask that question, didn't ya?

**"Sunshine On My Shoulders" USED to be my favorite song until today. OUCH.**

First Foreign Country Visited:
Canada. University of Toronto
(I got lost on the subway, saw black squirrels that look like rats and slept with a ghost. Really.)

First Favorite TV Show: I Love Lucy

First Favorite Actor: Alan Alda

First Favorite Actress: Lucille Ball

First Girlfriend/Boyfriend: Steve - the preacher's son. He kissed me under the bleachers. And that's all I'm saying 'bout that.

First Encounter with a Famous Person: Steve the Preacher's Son was legendary.

**Did I mention I have a sunburn?**

First Brush With Death:
I assume you mean personally, Judd???
I was 2. My brother and I were hospitalized with the Asian flu. I'm ready this time.

First House/Condo Owned:
Oh, to have that mortgage today. A 3-bedroom ranch with a fireplace in suburbanite America for less than $200 a month. Did I dream that?

First Film Seen: I have no clue so I'll go with Last Film Seen, please Alec.
Forever Young.

First Favorite Recording Artist: Do you mean "artist" in the Paula Abdul kinda way? Or "artist" in the formerly Prince kinda way.....you really need to be more specific with these questions. You're talking to the Queen of Memes here Buster Mr. Judd.
I got nothing.

First Favorite Radio Station: WCOG They played a lot of Zeppelin, Joplin, Otis Redding and Eagles. Top 40 format. I had a crush on the DJ, Dusty Dunn. (Shhh.....don't tell him. He's retired now.) I wonder why they haven't called to interview me?
Oh. Because it is now a Disney Radio station. Zeppelin would not be amused.

First Book I Remember Reading: The Best First Christmas or something like that.

First Meme You Answered on Your Blog: The infamous Book Meme by the legendary-swims-with-whale-sharks-and-other-adorables-LIZZA, my friend and blog buddy from the Philippines. She tossed it.
I caught meme fever and became Mimi, Sunburned Queen of Memes.

Well, I should know better than to go outside in 80 degree weather when my ancestor looks like THIS and wearing nothing but......never mind.

Such a pleasure reading your meme. :) If you still are having trouble with that sunburn you can also try white vinegar. You smell like salad, but it totally takes that sting out. :)
I was never a Kelly Girl, but my mom was. :)

Have a wonderful week!

I was a Kelly Temporary employee as well and also worked for horrendous wages but got a permanent gig out of it. so all was not lost. I recall it was at one time called Kelly Girl. How primitive and strange. LOL!

I would err on the side of prince as far as recording artist go.

That's a very intimidating picture of you with the mask. :-)

Once again your meme answers leave me enthralled. And I learned something new! I had never heard of a Kelly girl until today. :-)

That sunburn sounds a tad uncomfortable. Hope your complexion goes back to normal ASAP!

P.S. Swims-with-whale-sharks, haha! I love it, Mims.

Alan Alda is amazing :)

I don't know if I could even answer half of these. First car, first book read those are a lock. First record? More specific please. First I owned, or first I bought? LP or 45? I mean really.

So, so, so sorry to hear you're in such pain my lovely. If you need someone to apply the aloe vera I'm just a call or email away you know. I promise, I'll be gentle.

Found myself playing along. You did well with this one. Now about exposing your royal flesh to depradations of the sun ... what were you thinking? The pea gave the princess a bruise. What did you think a big ball of flame would do to a queen?

I had that Streisand album, too. Love(d) it, even though it completely ruined the opening of one of my favorite musicals. Admit it, when you see Julie Andrews in the Alps, don't you secretly hope she will sing, "The hills are alive, and it's really frightening"?

What's it like to be kissed under the bleachers?

Mimi Lenox said...

Ricardo - Blogger just ate my comment! Bah! But it was something about that green thing and us being ahead of the curve. I'll get back to you on that.
