Monday Mimisms ~ A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Vacation
Ten Things I Did in Hawaii On Vacation (The "Other" Ten will not be blogged. Ahem...)
Have you ever wanted something so much you couldn't stand it? Have you ever fantasized while driving through the drive-through to get a red slushy fruity thing and all you can think of is the "thing?" You stir the straw round and round in the plastic pretend glass, salivating about the moment the "thing" makes it appearance and hoping no one is reading your mind?
Oh.
It was scandalous.
None of that had a thing to do with my vacation but it was a nice thought. Mmmmmmaybe.
Here's what happened in Mimi's Hawaii. I was on a roller coaster in a hula skirt I'll tell ya.
I'm a bit dizzy. Aloha!
1. I attended a Flirt Fest.
Nuff said. But it had something to do with a bowl of popcorn.....You heard me.
Popcorn can be sexy.
Who knew??!
2. I played
This
over and over and over again
I've missed it so. Oh, I play everyday at work but this was different. This was not work. This was me ala piano in a nightgown on the bench with my hair all tangled singing wild and atonally appropriate and inappropriate symphonies to myself looking out the window in a fit of whimsy and caring not that the squirrels ran screaming through the forest in terror.
And barefoot. Did I mention I play barefoot?
...and then Sting showed up. He sat down beside me.
I knew that straw-stirring fantasy would come true.

3. I learned to love grass.
No. Not that kind.
Still in a barefoot mood.
Do you mind?
And yet I still refuse to show my entire self to the blogging world.
No. Not that kind.
THIS kind...........
It's growing under my feet with the dandelions in Bloggingham's front yard. Finally spring is here.Still in a barefoot mood.
Do you mind?
And yet I still refuse to show my entire self to the blogging world.
4. I am reading THIS....
My reactions so far have been wide-eyed skepticism. Men are complicated enough and now he wants me to believe they're actually simple? I feel a migraine coming on.
5. The Fam: My son got Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from a tick bite at the beginning of vacation. I spent a lot of time in emergency rooms and pharmacies. By the end of vacation he was much better but I needed medication myself! He is responding well to the antibiotic. But that part wasn't fun......especially for him.
It was a slight setback for my "Hawaiian plans."
6. My dad took a turn for the worse, then got better, then worse, then better....a roller coaster dad he is. Hospice is back. He is still cracking jokes on morphine. I had to turn away in the ER when he told a friend, "Did you hear the one about the man who was looking for a bad woman?"
7. Had lunch with my best friend, Barbie, at Mimi's Cafe. Where else?
They were not amused when I told them my name was Mimi. I didn't even get a discount. Hmmpft! They should pay me for walking in there.
8. I missed Homer. And you.
9. In between long naps, nursing sick people, and flirting with popcorn bowls when I could, I worked on the Peace Globe Gallery and created a TWIBE for all you wonderful peace bloggers out there. Film at 11. In the process, I think we broke Twitter this morning. Yay!
10. So that's the vacation that was. And wasn't. Ups downs smiles frowns. And you haven't even heard about the carnival, my primpin' pedicure afternoon, and getting thrown out of the bookstore.
I may need a vacation from the vacation.
See you tomorrow.
P.S. Did any of you see Homer on Facebook while I was gone?

Hope your son is all better.
What's a TWIBE?
You got thrown out of the bookstore?
Let me guess...you were browsing, and then you had to reach for your camera, but you caught the strap of your bag on a discount book table, and you turned to pull it free, but your elbow clipped a stack of Twilight books, and they toppled to the floor, and then you tripped and tried to catch your balance, but instead you stumbled into a book rack, and then all the books went tumbling.
Fee - Thank you. He is.
A TWIBE is a "group" on Twitter.
Twitter + Tribe = Twibe.
I created one for PEACE and BlogBlast For Peace.
Thanks for visiting!
Travis - Ummmm....Something like that. You know me so well. It did have to do with my camera. I was "accosted" by the manager.
I can't take me anywhere.
Was it diaphanous? I think diaphanous is in Webster's 5th. Not to be confused with Beethoven's 5th.
Bwhahahahhaahahaha!
It's late...I'm rambling.
Welcome back to reality. Mimi reality!
**hugs**
Ummmm "peduco" is my WV!
Julie - Have you been sniffing the toilet bowl cleanser fumes again? Just sayin'..
This post is very much like a short story that has the last page missing. I am wildly confused by the popcorn ... but then again I have never understood popcorn anyhooo.
Mimi - YOU are the greatest. Just thought I would tell you that with socks or without socks --- red socks, blue sox, so many feet you meet while listening to music.
HUG HUG :-)
glad you had some adventures.
I'm happy to play with Homer on FB....but I ain't gonna Tw-anything if its all the same to you...
welcome home your Majesty...
Eric - Only one person will understand the popcorn. Mission accomplished....
A short story with a missing page, eh? Do you know a publisher? Hmmmmmmm???
P.S. You left out the White Sox.
Katherine - I did have some adventures. It was a crazy week all the way around with some nice, pleasant things thrown in for good measure. Thank you. It's good to be back.
OHH! ... why yes I did.
Missing SOX
Yep! A roller coaster vacation! Ain't they the best!
A flirt fest? Popcorn?
My imagination is running wild!!!
NOT. FAIR.
Let's make a deal. You send me your details and I'll send you mine. Somehow I think yours will be much more interesting... ;)
I hope your son gets better!!! and your dad! Hell of a vacay!!!
Can I borrow Homer for a few days for Weezie? She needs a fried. :-)
I've passed an award on to you.
Oh my... that shot in the grass is magnificent! I wish I'd taken it.
Welcome back my queen. I hope you're well rested now and you, dad and son are feeling better too!
I was thinking of you Thursday as I was at UNC-G for my son's recital. You would have loved it.
Missed you lots!
Eric - Thanks for the sox!
Nick - It was non-stop amusement of the stressful and NON-stressful kind. I'm glad I have a sense of humor. It was some vacation!
Dawn - You've got mail.
And I expect mail in return, Missy!
Erica - I was a little busy but there were good parts as well! I did get some rest while I wasn't blogging. Not blogging was a very good thing for me.
Debbie - Are you KIDDING me?! I'll send him right over. He's driving me nuts!
Mojo - You've got mail too!
I used a cheap camera to take this a couple of years ago out in the front yard. I used a timer and pointed and clicked. Not sophisticated technique at all. I'm NOT a photographer but I had so much fun playing in the grass and experimenting with the lights and angles. I was really pleased with the image and the sun was perfect that day.
Of course, the blogworld will always get the cropped version.
Smile.
Thank you.
Uhhhh ... flirting with popcorn?!??!?!
Sorry to hear about your Father and son having problems. Hopefully all that will clear up.
WELCOME HOME! Glad dad and son are recovering...
oh and WELCOME HOME
Sounds like it was a very interesting time! Thanks for sharing.
Great to have you back Mimi. I'm sorry to hear about your son and dad's problems, I hope they're recovering well. x
I think we need a clearer definition of a flirt fest.
Glad to have you back, Your Highness. :)
I'm looking forward to my quasi-vacation next month. *sigh*
(Executing a curtsy) Welcome home, Your Highness. I have seen many women reading that Steve Harvey book on the train. None of them were laughing.
Southern - You just had to be there. I'm sorry I've caused this confusion!
Charles - I saw my dad this afternoon and he really needs prayer. My son is doing much better. Thank you.
Bond - Well Vinny, as I told Charles, my dad is not good tonight at all. But I think my son will be OK. It was scary though.
Mark - Yes, it was a multi-faceted blogvation.
Mark - Yes, it was a multi-faceted blogvation.
Akelamalu - Please send Reiki. Thank you.
Jean-luc - That might just make an interesting blog post. I kind of like that word...
Autumn - You deserve a good long vacation. Nice to be back and nice to see you.
Gal - The book doesn't make me want to cozy up to the male species. That's for sure. It's a pretty dire view of men. All men are NOT the same. It can't be that simple!
It feels like you have been gone forever. I am sorry to hear about your son and father.
It sounds like you had a wonderful time. I hope you are rested and renewed.
Now send Homer on vacation! haha
Pam - I've only been back for 2 days and he's already on my last nerve. Adoption is a possibility...I'll see if I can find his papers.
No need to ask my friend it was already on its way. xx
Mimi, a camera, and a bookstore....hmmmmm.....
There's trouble a-brewing!
