Peace Blogger of The Day: The Missouri Meowers
Those cats are at it again! I received a very nice email from this clever crew who left their pawprints on a peace globe. "Give Peace A Chance" shown below by The Missouri Meowers.
Read the rest of their message to me about a cat's perspective on peace in our world.
I can't speak in catspeak so I'll let them say it for me. After all, I'm just a human bean.
They write, " this pome was written in the 1800s by Mr. Leigh Hunt. to 'splain it to us, first mom said that not efurryone believes in a g*d like mr. hunt did. but those who do, believe that g*d is love. an' most of those who don't believe in g*d believe in love, so it seems to our little kitty-brains that it comes to the same thing. an' love is a pretty good thing to have! so that makes us think that if we would share that love wif efurryone on earth, then we would be blessed wif peace, 'cause those who love each ofurr unnerstand each ofurr, mostly. an' when we unnerstand each ofurr, we don't get mad at each ofurr or hurt each ofurr.
an' we know this won't work completely until efurryone loves efurryone that they don't already love--cats 'n' woofies 'n' beans 'n' all living things--even the ones we think are unloveable. so we're gonna start lovin' efurryone more. if YOU, dear reader, do that, too, and pass it on to ofurrs, we'll have a pretty good start on PEACE ON EARTH!!
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw, within the moonlight of his room,
Making it rich and like a lily in bloom,
An Angel writing in a book of gold:--
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the Presence in the room he said,
"What writest thou?" The Vision raised its head,
Answered, "The names of those who love the Lord."
"And is mine one?" said Abou. "Nay, not so,
" Replied the Angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerly still; and said, "I pray thee, then,
Write me as one that loves his fellow men."
The Angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again, with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blessed,
And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.
What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected.
