Have You Ever Flown In A Car?

I am home recuperating from a car accident over the weekend...and being taken care of by some very special friends near and far.
Thank you for all the prayers and love I've already received on my Facebook page and through email.

I need time for bruises - inside and out - to heal.
I need time to process what happened and write about it....just not in an upright position!

The doctor said to watch for "any strange behavior" after a head trauma. I told him they'd better watch for normal behavior. THAT would be out of the ordinary.
See you soon. Back to bed.
P.S. Homer is being nice to me for a change.

Not!

Oh dear. I haven't blogged since Monday. Where did the time go??
Let me fill you in on my life in the last 72 hours. Glad you asked.

Bloggingham is STILL - yes, believe it! - under construction after the water-disaster-that-was. I see partly finished drywall, bare floors and half walls and studs and nails and caulking dusk all over the place.  Seven hundred beautiful peace bloggers have descended upon the Peace Bloggers page I sooooo need a secretary my cellphone keeps talking to me in the middle of the night I'm out of coffee it's already 7:05 pm I haven't had dinner and I seem to have lost my comma. Shall I go on?

I am about to lose what mind I have left that isn't full of **cough cough** dust.

I repeat.

Thank you Homer.

Wait a minute. That is NOT what I said.
I'm supposed to be on vacation!! Instead I'm....

Monday Mimisms ~ Have you noticed?

Did you know there are currently nearly 2100 peace globes from 53 countries in the gallery  and 1260 members in the "cause" on FB? All of them are peace bloggers! I have made peace with the fact that I will never find all of them but I do expect the numbers to grow exponentially. Have you added your name to these pages? Please do.

I have been knee deep in peace work this weekend. The BlogBlast For Peace page is here on FB. You can see the albums full of peace globes and information. I find new globes everyday!

It seems that the more social media forces its presence upon us the less true blogging is noticed these days.  Have you noticed? Many long time true blue bloggers have migrated to Facebook and Twitter, closing their blogs altogether. I have noticed a marked change in comments on Mimi Writes and my other blogs. When I link blog posts to my Facebook and Twitter pages, I get more comments there than here! Even though I enjoy those venues, I don't plan on ever ditching my blogs. However, they have been remarkably effective for peace globes. BlogBlast For Peace on Facebook and Twitter has been met with great enthusiasm, so I say let's utilize all the vast blogosphere has to offer and go with the flow of change....as long as it's good change.

**notice groovy psychedelic graphics**

The first 3 graphics on this page were created by Scottish author Michelle Yd Frost for the 2011 launch and are free to use and share.  Michelle writes the blog Crow's Feet. We thank her for being such a dedicated peace blogger - and friend.
Now, we also have a new page for Peace Bloggers.  THIS you don't want to miss. It's a place for peace bloggers of the past to reconnect, those in the present who keep the movement going to connect daily and future generations of peace bloggers to begin their journey with us.
There are 436 registered members already (after only a few days) and I expect that number to rise significantly as we find people and they find us.

Two very kind people who are much more graphically artistic than I, have created several new logos today. And I didn't even ask them! What a wonderful surprise for us. The richly decorated peace logo below is the work of FB blogger Janice D'Agostino from Houston, Texas.  Janice authors two fabulous cooking blogs,  The Mindful Palate and The CC (Calorie Counting) Palate, both of which I can't understand a word she's saying. Big surprise, huh?  She has granted anyone permission to use the image below and if you need cooking lessons like I desperately do  then head on over to her delicious pages.
It's really exciting to see the level of growth and dedication to the peace globe movement I've seen in the past week.  People are seriously contemplating needed change in our world and are much more active and vocal than they've ever been.  Have you noticed? There's also a great sense of community afoot. Maybe it's always been there, but once people began to see faces and names of peace bloggers in one place this weekend, side by side, it became one big impromptu reunion - and we could actually visualize the connection.   Alpha Tauri sent this tweet today, "been watching the dnp posts on facebook & twitter. Peace bloggers have got a nice social networking revolution going. :)"
**notice Mimi dancing to the psychedelic peace drum** ohhh...you don't see it?

OK. Maybe I should surrender to the social media frenzy. Just this once. I can't let the cat bloggers down now can I? They are a force to be reckoned with.
See how fierce they are?

And now if you'll excuse me, summer vacation begins today!!!!
Yippee!!!

*You are welcome to use any of the graphics on this page*

Call 1-800-Bloggingham!

Ring Ring! Viiiibbbbbbbrrrrraaattte. Buzzzzzz Buzzzzz
It's Mimi on the line. Electronic gadgets have taken over our lives it seems. I can't go anywhere without seeing someone talking on a cellular phone or fixated on one of the newest toys. Doesn't it annoy you? On the other hand, how did we ever get along without them?
Call or text 1-800-Bloggingham. We'll chat!

#86 The Cell Phone Meme

1. How important is a cell phone in UR life?
For emergencies they provide a sense of comfort I suppose. Trouble is, I have at least 20 emergencies every day.

2. R U addicted to UR cell phone?
No. I am addicted to the text messages IN my cellphone.

3. R U a texter, an emailer, or a photo sender?
Guilty. Guilty. Not Guilty.

4. In the normal course of a day, about how many times do U touch UR cell phone?
I touch it 200 times just trying to get it to be quiet.

5.  R U guilty of distracted driving?
Yes! But this has more to do with applying mascara than texting while driving.

6. What is the 1 app never invented that needs to be made for UR cell phone?
I would like an icon shaped like a peace globe that automatically dials the United Nations each time someone posts a peace globe in the blogosphere.

7. What annoys U the most about cell phones these days?
That I'm forced to listen to everyone's private conversations in public. It's rude.
Turn. It. Off.

Monday Mimisms ~ The Dash

What do I want to talk about today? Isn't that why we're here? I write. You read. If only I had something important to say. Hmmmm.....perhaps stream of consciousness is in order on this first Monday in June.

Have you ever noticed how life seems to flow between massive spurts of change and smooth sailing stalemate status? One minute you're bored with the status quo and the next it all comes together before your eyes.  This week I saw the end of one life and the beginning of another.

I kissed my son on the cheek as I left him standing on the steps of his new home. "You've started a new chapter in your life today. A new life. I'm so proud of you." I drove away with a surreal sense of how quickly things change. I couldn't help but notice that the first thing he'd done was hang a hammock in the yard. So unlike his mother. But it made me smile. I hope this simple pleasure brings him  -and his lady - joy and contentment.

No sooner had I settled in back at the Palace when the phone rang with news of another beginning. Someone I knew and greatly respected had passed on into eternity. Today at the funeral there was talk of family and memories, purpose and passion....how he defined himself through the space of 82 years. "What will people say about you when your time on earth is through?" asked the pastor. "Will you have made a difference? Will you have left your mark?"  My friend certainly had. His zest for living and honest authenticity never left you wondering where you stood with him. Such a simple man in worldly terms but one who knew exactly who he was and stood in it.

The birth of each soul on earth and the return of each soul at the end of life are experiences common to us all...but "the dash" in the middle between those two points is what counts, said the preacher.  Sure I want my life to count for something bigger than myself. Sure I want to make a difference, but must I dash? Does your passion and purpose have to be a race to the end? I wondered, as I sat there in my funeral clothes, if defining yourself and "trying" to make a mark is missing the mark, when really, living your true self is making a mark after all.  At least that's the life I'm hoping for.

I think I'll keep doing what I do and being who I am...with one small change.

I need a little more of this.

Un Momento Por Favor

.....while I gather my thoughts.
They're scattered hither and yon.

The muse is visiting.
There might be a story under that hat.
