Billy Blanks Is My Friend

There comes a time in the life of every pencil skirt when she needs to waltz up to the mirror and have a nice long talk with herself.

So I did.

I gave myself a lecture. I threw a couple of carrots and a grape at the glass reflection just for dramatic emphasis. Then I looked at the image staring back at me and said, "You, Mimi Pencil Skirt, are a woman with Good Intentions."

And that's a very bad thing.

Because good intentions will write a nice blog post but it won't get the things done you need to do. I know from personal experience and just living life in this palace world of mine WHAT it takes for me to be truly in tune with myself. I'm generally happy in my own skin. Content with my own company. But I know - in that self-imposed competitive spirit of mine (only with myself usually) I could do better. Here's a list of the six things I KNOW to do EVERYDAY that make me stronger, happier, and saner.

Six Memmandments

1. I shall spent at least 30 minutes of alone time. Recharging. Restoring. Relaxing. Meditating. Reading. Whispering prayers. Being still. No noise. No music. Me. Breathing. Still. Just me.

2. I shall exercise BEFORE I blog. Before I read. Before I watch the news. Before I blog. I said that. Tonight's viewing pleasure - 30 minutes of pure hell.

Aside: My reward was the American Idol show featuring Lennon and McCartney songs. No, that wasn't the hell part but it was close. (Kristy Cook sang a Beatles song to a country hoe-down arrangement. It was not pretty.) But I digress...
I have a strict exercise regimen that includes walking walking and more walking with weights.
If I don't do it everyday I just don't have the energy I need.

For three years now I've worked out with the same group of people. I know them by name. We wave. Then they exercise without breaking a sweat. I just break things. Shoelaces tangle. Plants fall over. I fall over. I've worn the video out. And I wonder.....nobody in the class ever looks happy. Except Billy. He's always smiling. We fall down. He smiles. I get up. He smiles.
He's used to my clumsiness and doesn't say a word. I hit pause. Curse. Resume.

4. Drink 6 glasses of water everyday.

Let's all say it together.......Mimi! Put the coffee cup DOWN.

Do I want healthy skin? Do I want a healthy body? Do I want to keep all my body parts? Then drink the blasted water.

5. Eat more of this.......and less of this.

6. Go To BED.
This is a big hurdle for me to overcome. I'm a nightowl. Morning is evil.

There are other important things I should be doing but I'm going to stop at six. I'm going to work on doing these six things DAILY for the next two weeks and I'll let you know what happens. I'm learning to untangle my life and keep it simple. I'm happier.
Goodnite.(See....I'm doing better already. Uhh....It's after midnight.) OK. I'll start tomorrow.

7. GEE! I already need to add one more.
Stop procrastinating..

Those things do not sound like very much fun! Except the walking part. I enjoy doing that, too.

Easier said than done Mimi, easier said than done. That pizza looks lots more yummy than the salmon. Just saying. Have a great day. Big hug. :)

Good for you for simplifying. Or trying to, I should say.

Good luck with it.

six is a good start.....I have a tough time drinking enough water too...

do you know what WC Fields had to say about drinking water?

Daisy - I'd go for a walk with you anytime. Will you wear your pink ruffles?

Sandee - You are so right about that. I did manage to do pretty well today. And then I conked out!

Bud - Very funny, wiseguy...

Bee - I love walking but really prefer to be with an actual person instead of a video/dvd. The TaeBo tape is a perfect workout, however, and I'm just as happy to do it in the privacy of my home with no one watching.

Patti - I need to get more rest.THAT is for sure.

Katherine - The water thing is hard. I don't particularly enjoy drinking it so I'm trying the powdered flavors to help. It gets nauseating after awhile.
No, what did WC Fields say?

I'm drinking more water but I refuse to give up pizza.

I bought a 32oz water jug at Target. I fill it up when I get to work, and by 11am I've emptied it.

Sounds like you've been reading something like Ageless by Suzanne Somers -- darn that annoying health stuff. I too struggle esp with the going to bed thing and stopping b4 6. I did it twice...I think....since I finished the book 3 weeks ago. But I think about it. I work toward it. We care. THat's what matters.

Hey, I'm thinking about doing a meme - you got any tips? Friday Feast is out there. Mine would be Friday as well. That's OK, right? Whatta ya got for me? 'nything?

*smooches*

Those are things we should all do. But few of us will. Good luck Mimi. Cheers!!

Brilliant Katherine...I drink a lot of flavored water each day...maybe the flavor helps me to forget that W.C. Fields said "I don't drink water...fish f**k in it"

Thanks for the reminder. I need to do all of those things myself...but rarely do. I'm the type that needs at least 2 hours added to every day to get everything done. *sigh*

It's amazing how hard it is for us to do "simple" anymore. With everything so readily available it's a wonder we don't all explode.

Travis - I will reward myself with pizza soon.....yumm....

Chuck - I always have a meme brewing somewhere. Stay tuned. Or just flip through the rolodex in the sidebar and find an old one to do! It's OK......

Matt-Man - Are you still eating Spam? NOT GOOD. Yes, it's hard but worth it.

Bond - Thanks for clearing that up! YUK. I'll never look at water the same way again.

Bundle - I am never finished with all my projects but I had to make a decision to prioritize the important stuff. Working on it...

Jeff - So true. And I will catch up on your recent story soon. I'm sorry I haven't been around lately!

I would have bet Vinny knew that one!
