Conversation With Baby Boy
Telephone.
Ringing.
"Hello?"
"Hey," said a meek little voice.
"Hey Baby Boy! How are you?"
"Fine. Can I come over tomorrow and play with you?"
There is no amount of anything in this world that would make me say "no" to him.
But I had to say no.
"I'm sorry, sweetie, not tomorrow.
My friend is coming over to have dinner with me at 5:00.
We'll have to do it another day. "
Silence.
Did he understand?
Silence.
Did he understand?
"How about the day after tomorrow? Next week?" I asked him.
Silence.
How do I explain Mimi-needs -adult-time-and-cannot-watch-Bumpety-Boo-tomorrow without hurting his feelings?
"You see, Baby Boy,there won't be any little girls or boys here to play with.
"OK. I'll come over and play then."
Click.
Dinner for three.
Sigh.

Even tho' it be a threesome, I'm sure that Baby Boy is a worthy, even great guest. And greater conversationalist, wouldn't you agree??
Ralph - I won't get a word in edgewise. And I might as well go ahead and rewing Bumpety Boo.
Sigh.
Sounds like a fun dinner in the making... :) have a great time Mimi...
Awww, Mimi, he adores you!
Arv - With Baby Boy there is never a dull moment.
Songbird - I adore him.
Hi Mimi,
If that isn't love ?? And such a big young fellow to telephone his Mimi in advance to set an appointment .
Ahhhh...
Have a great dinner.
The word 'NO' doesn't exist Mimi - well as far as grandchildren are concerned it doesn't!
Barb - He thinks he is a big boy indeed. Sometimes when he needs something from me (like reaching the milk in the fridge) and I let him "be a big boy" and do it himself he'll say "Mimi! I need help. I'm just a little kid ya know."
It cracks me up.
Akelamalu - Taking notes....
You always "glow" when you speak of him. I'm sorry I never got the chance to meet him...
Bud - I regret that too. He would have loved your zaniness.
Aaw, your grandson is so cute.
I'm sure you had a great time with him, as always. ;-)
Princess Patti Thank you. He is something else.
Now that's a little man who knows what he wants and how to get it.
We can all take lessons.
He's your baby boy Mimi. How can you refuse that little cutie. You can't. Hope you had fun. :)
