The rest of it is for marketing purposes. You don't have to give it to them!<br /><br />And btw, don't use your debit card for purchases. You have fewer protections against identity theft. Instead get a nice, no-fee rewards credit card and pay it off every month. <br /><br />I admit that this NEVER happens to me. When I'm asked for my home phone number, I honestly say, "Unlisted" and that ends the conversation.
