The Liebster Blog Award and A Tag From Gal

The Gal Herself has tagged me for the the Liebster award! Liebster is a German word which means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome.
Thank you so much, Gal!

Here are the rules for the award:
  1. Each person must post 11 facts about themselves.
  2. Answer 11 questions the tagger has given you and give 11 questions for the people you’ve tagged.
  3. Choose 11 people and link them in your post. Tell them you’ve tagged them.
  4. Remember, no tag backs.
So, here are 11 things about me (although I don't know what I could possibly share that I haven't already written about on this blog, but I'll try) :
1. I laugh at myself all the time. This week I picked up my cellphone and tried to turn on the television.

2. I carried a bouquet of yellow daisies at my once-upon-a-marriage wedding.
3. My sister makes the most amazing homemade quilts, scarves, blankets and beautiful items for the home. I can't sew a button on a shirt.

4. I am editing my blog(s) from start to finish. We're talking 2,900+ posts and drafts since May 2006 just on Mimi Writes. There are stories and people and photographs that need to be re-labeled, addendum statements and updates added, tagged for Google+ etc etc. Blogger added a few new features since I started blogging. "Search description" and the ability to customize your post urls makes it easier for search engines to find the posts you want out there and squelch the ones you don't. The above project is cracking me up. Oh, the spelling errors and faux pas. Some of the earlier posts don't have photographs at all and once upon a time I used an awful blue color to highlight words. Not attractive!

5. I used to watch the Sonny and Cher Show back in the day. I never liked anything else Cher did after that, except Moonstruck.

6.  I love vintage jewelry (and apparently vintage singers).

7.  My mother, sister and I share the same middle name.

8.  I am a singer with a degree in classical voice (major) and piano (secondary instrument) and a minor in English. But I don't go around the house singing Puccini...Mozart sometimes....It makes Baby Beans smile and return high-pitched squeals to his Mimi.

9. When I'm writing something emotionally intense (when the muse visits) I "see" and "hear" the words on the page in short increments...and then wait for more.  If I try to get too far ahead or question what I'm writing, I lose it.  I've learned it's best to listen, wait and write. Sometimes I'm as surprised as you are.

10. I have absolute (perfect) pitch. (Baby Beans not so much. Yet.)

11. I had an almost photographic memory for years.  I could read a page and still see the page in my later and read it again. That doesn't happen much anymore. I blame that on too much anesthesia during an operation in-between. I could never quite recall events the same way after that and actually lost some of my memories altogether.

Great questions. *That seemed indulgent. All those "I" statements. Just following directions.*

Here are the questions Gal has given me:

1. What's your oldest memory?
He was fifty-seven going on seven. The most immature man I've ever met in my entire life.  Oh, what an old memory. Ohh....you meant....
(see #11)

2. Who was your first crush?
Davy Jones of The Monkees
(the one in the middle, in case you don't know)

3. When was the last time you cried?
This morning

4. How often do you read the newspaper?
Daily and always online

5. What is something you won't scrimp on, no matter how tight your budget?
Good shampoo, conditioner and skin products

6. Do you enjoy your time in the bath or shower? Or is it merely for hygiene/grooming, like brushing your teeth?
Who enjoys brushing their teeth? Yuck.

But I do looooove long bubble baths after a long day.

7. Close your eyes and think of a song. Which one popped into your head?

"Cheer Up Sleepy Jean." Although I adored Davy back in the day I hate this song. It has one of the worst lyrics ever written " My shavin' razor's cold and it stings." No matter how you sing it, it's just ugly.

8. What's the biggest dollar bill in your wallet right now? (Asked because a friend of mine recently broke a $100 at dinner, and I don't think I've ever carried a bill that big.)
$20

9. You're home. It's 9:30 at night. You're hungry. What do you snack on?
Fruit (if the Cheetos bag is empty)

10. Are you a Felix (neat freak) or an Oscar (slob)?
Somewhere in-between. I like things orderly and clean. On the other hand, I lose my keys five times a day.

11.  When did you last send someone a card? It could be a greeting card, or a postcard. But you had to address it, put a stamp on it and mail it. E-cards or a card you simply handed a person don't count.
May 2012. A thank you note for a gift.
Here are the questions I give you: Warning: Random!

1. What is the nearest book to you? Your Kindle does not count.
 2.  When is the last time you took a "me" vacation?
3. How many telephone numbers do you have?
4. If you could fix one thing in the public school system, what is the one thing you would do immediately?
5. Are you a big tipper?
6. Do you watch any Reality shows?
 7. Who is your favorite sports team player?
 8. If you could travel in a spaceship to any planet, which planet would you like to visit and why?
 9. When is the last time you sat in a church?
10. Are there any aspects of blogging that annoy you?
11. When someone follows you on their blog or subscribes to your Facebook page, do you automatically follow and subscribe back?

This could be the first post I've ever seen that includes yellow daises, Cher and Cheetos. Very entertaining! Glad I could honor ou with the award.

Hi Mimi,
Thanks for the tag and award. Managed to actually get a post done.

Can you add labels to posts without having them re-post and fill up everyone's reader? That's one reason I've never done that. I'd like to, but I don't want my nearly 1800 posts hitting everyone's Google reader if I do.

Gal - Yellow daisies never go out of style. I love them. Don't you?

Frank - Well done on the meme!!

Travis - Gosh, I hope not. Cause I change labels and edit stuff all the time. You mean all these posts I've edited and re-labeled are clogging up everyone's readers?
YIKES. Let me check this out.

Trav - The bottom line is I've got to get my blog organized. Even if they are being re-posted, I'll just have to apologize later.
I can't stand this clutter.

Thanks Mimi. xx

oh and very weird - #11 of your facts about self. Me too! I was never the same after an operation I had in the early 1990s. Lost chunks of memory, words and the whole photographic thing fizzzled
