Monday Mimisms ~ I Never Really Wanted A Swimming Pool In The Den

I've been so busy with disasters this year that I haven't had time to write my 2010 yearly review. It is halfway finished. So after the monster flu and back to work,  I thought this weekend would be a nice and relaxing time to do just that.
I thought wrong.

Why did my hot water heater pick THIS weekend to burst?
Seriously.

Have you ever awakened on a Saturday morning to find 2" of water standing inside half your house? I walked down the stairs to find out why there was no hot water. Maybe I needed to flip the breaker thingy. Step 1 - step 2 ...step 13. I turn my head to the left. I scream. WATER! I open the door to the right. I scream. WATER! There was no boat. I walk back up the stairs. 13....12....11....I couldn't find my rubber boots or my earrings or my sanity or my phone.

Unlike other natural disasters in Bloggingham (and there have been plenty) I did what any Queen should have done in the first place. I called someone. Anyone. Everyone. All of them.
The Fire Department came with their kind  hoses to empty the swimming hole that was and still is my house. Disaster crew team came to clean up the mess that was and is my house.  They say emergency cleanup "phase one" will take several days. Joy and rapture (and rupture)! I can't wait for "repair phase two" - they should be all done by Christmas if we're lucky.
**and no, Bloggy People, I do not know who that naked person is swimming in my den**

Oh. But here's the good news. Nobody died or got hurt. Not even the prisoners in the dungeon who forgot to pack their swimming trunks. They were so excited to have company down there. It was morbidly cute the way they talked to the shocked workers who set my furniture on blocks and carefully moved all the knick knacks around. They were professionals and pretended not to notice my blogging buddies behind bars. And I only cursed (out loud) once.

I'm going to take a cold cold shower now.
Thank God for small blessings.
At least I still have clean well water and soap.
There are many in our world right now who are just trying to survive.

I can take a little drama ya know.

**update Sunday afternoon** - hot water has arrived. I can at least be clean while getting dirty. Did you get that?

My goodness but you seem to be having one disaster after another this year! I am so sorry to hear about yet another mishap befalling Your Majesty but I was relieved to hear that none of the prisoners were drowned in their cells in the dungeon or something equally horrible.

I sure hope your insurance covers this sort of thing and I sure hope that's the last disaster for awhile; it'll be the end of 2011 before you get your recap to 2010 ever done!

Linda- Ain't it the truth. I just took a hot shower and settled in to rest a little.

And lost my car keys.

Mimi, I so relate. This year since November I have had one disaster after another, too discouraging a list to repeat, culminating in my hot water tank going. Sigh. You are very witty about it anyway! I mustered only frustrated growls when it was my turn:)This winter didnt kill me. But I dont feel terribly much stronger!

Oh my, such a vision: The prisoners treading water while the queen strikes maiden in distress poses. I hope this is the last of your disasters for the year

Planned a very modern model town
Elevated roads to stroll around
Grew so high it made you groggy
Built on land a trifle soggy
So as it rose up it started down

It took no end of spunk
And looked quite splendid as it sunk
Here comes another lurch
There goes the depot and the Baptist church

Wow, I'm sorry to hear this. Can't be a pleasent thing to deal with. I'm glad to see your humor is intact. I'm awed by that.

Oh, your highness! This blows! I am impressed that you are facing this latest adversity with grace and humor. I guess regal breeding will tell at times like this.

And the insurance insanity begins. That in itself is as exhausting as wading through water in a pencil skirt.
They are already tired of my questions.
So I wrote more.

Thanks for the concern!

I'm glad your water heater waited until you recovered from the flu. What if they had both happened at the same time!?! Coulda happened!

Couldn't find your rubber boots or your earrings! I LOL'ed at that one! :D

Keep your chin up because once you get finished with your run of disasters, you're due for a run of amazing good fortune!

So says Travis, so let it be done!

P.S. Proop is not a very dignified word verification word.
