Monday Mimisms ~ Don't Drink the Water In the BirdBath

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter.

What a busy weekend I've had! Today's post is a snapshot of my busyness. Saturday was fabulous! I spent the day getting into my usual mischief scouting out antiques and trying to buy ferns. Exciting, no?

As many of you know, Bloggingham Demolition is underway ala power of the pencil skirt.
In other words, I'm doing it myself. I needed a few Boston ferns for the porch. That was my mission. I came home with no ferns...but found these lovely early McCoy art pottery vases in an antique store. They came home with me instead of the droopy ferns. My nightstand is their new home.
(Although it has been rumored, there are no knives on my nightstand. This is the table at the antique store before I purchased them. Thanks Jamie for pointing that out to me.)

But while in the local nursery....Every pair of lovebirds needs a private place to kiss. But don't you think perching behind an orange fence is a little conspicuous?
I tried not to interrupt. Let's move on, shall we? Shhh.........

Did you know that if you take your picture in a gazing ball you get all wonky and distorted?
It was like the fun house at the State Fair.
So of course I had to stand there and take 1,000 pics to see what I'd get. "Excuse me, ma'am, but why the camera?" (Do you know how tired I am of this question by now?) "Because I like to take pictures. Do you mind?"
Nope.
She didn't.

You know, I'm not hiding explosives or strapping on dangerous devices. If I wanted to be incognito about it, I'd just use my cell phone and slip it back into my pocket....but noooo.....I have a large camera hanging around my neck with a long black strap. Hardly sinister. I mean seriously.
Look at that picture.

Don't I look like a normal person to you??!

(The first person to comment on the state of my hair is in the dungeon for life. It was windy!!)

And as luck would have it, my unruly locks got caught in the strap of my camera and I nearly fell in the water, but who cares? I was having a wonderful day.
What water, Mimi? Glad you asked.

She had the nerve to interrupt me while I was staring into the blue birdbath making shadow signs with my spinach-induced muscles.
How do I know if I want to purchase it if
I don't test taste the water and make sure it's drinkable for Bloggingham's birds?
They can't drink just any ole' water.

But the pheromones brewing in the heat of the sun bouncing off the clay pots wreaked havoc with my hormonal state and I had to move on. Story of my life.

Lovely pots, no?
And none of them fell on me while I was up inside the magic gazing ball.
Cause I channeled the supernatural powers of the sun whilst communing with the reflective rays. Bet you didn't know I could do that, did ya.....

It was time to crawl out of the pots and go home.

But not before I made another trip to the crazy closet of magic hats....where I found a little of this

and a whole lot of this

That story tomorrow evening.

Beautiful acquisitions, but why do you have knives on your nightstand?

Jamie - I just made that correction in the post. Thank you! This is the table at the antique before I bought them.

Although....knives on my nightstand might be just the decorating touch I need these days (said the evil Queen)

Mimi's adventures aren't for the faint of heart.

OMG! I tried to wish you a Happy Easter yesterday, but computer issues again. I don't think it's my computer per se, but Internet Explorer. Program would not allow me to leave a comment on your blog. Hopefully this message will get through. Lovely post and I love your taste in pottery. Your hair? Would not have noticed, if ya wouldn't have said anything. Too busy looking a the gorgeous antiques. Didn't get a chance to do meme, yet. I think I'll just wait for your next one. Knives? Every beautiful, single Lady needs to have a nice sharp one near her bedside. Hahahaha. Have a terrific day Mimi. Cheers!!

Charles - Spoken like a true follower. The sad part? No one, no one, no one in my real life will go shopping with me. I don't understand it.

That birdbath is my favorite color all of all times. I love it in the evenings when the sky goes that color =)

Indeed you have been busy ... and I too am a fan of the ol' Boston Ferns! Glad I stumbled over here ... Following you now- stop by my place when you can ;-)

Magic hats? Do you know Cindi Lauper's song Hatful of Stars? Worth hearing.

You crack me up.

I'm glad you only almost fell down.

First of all, I'm glad you don't keep knives on the nightstand. That's a sure sign you have "issues!" LOL

I love the mirrored ball shots! You look all curvalicious! All except for that large tumor on your right knee!

We're going to have to do more antiquing like you. We have been looking for a birdbath, and the ones at the stores are uninteresting and expensive.

Fun post, Mims!

I like the silver globe. My grandmother had a pretty blue one like it in her garden for years but one of her grandchildren (whistles innocently) could not keep her hands off it and it didn't have a chance.

Thank you for the comment on my blog. It seems we might have something to talk about.

Starr - It's a gorgeous shade, yes.

Mimi Lenox said...

Cogitator - The same to you, my friend.

Akelamalu - You can come along anytime. The two of us shopping togethet would be a blog post for sure!

Vinny - ALMOST is the key word here...

Mimi Lenox said...

AMF - Welcome to my world. Thank you for visiting and following. I shall read you shortly!

Mimi Lenox said...

Cogitator - No. I've never been a Lauper fan, but I'll check it out upon your most excellent recommendation.

Mimi Lenox said...

Travis - "only almost" cracked ME up. Ha!

Mimi Lenox said...

Ferd - But my friend, knives are not the issue...it's how you use them that is the issue. (evil grin)

I have a tumor on my knee? OH MY GOD???!!!

You shouldn't have said that. You know I'm a hypochondriac!!

Mimi Lenox said...

P.S. Ferd - I thought of Princess Gail on my excursion Saturday. I should take her to this place.

Mimi Lenox said...

Coco - I've never had one of the mirrored balls myself but they are interesting to look into and I see them in many yards.

We do, indeed, have a lot to discuss!
