Learning To Focus ~ The Return of Bambi

What perfectly beautiful animals. Peaceful. Strong. Elegant. Familial. Protective. Sweet. Graceful. To see them leap over the fence and bound through the woods is awesome. One of these days I'm going to catch that in motion. They'll be used to my pink jammies in a while....

I know it sounds silly but I feel as though they're mine. All mine. I've watched them grow up and protected them from hunters. They eat in the backyard up the mountain just above where I park my car in the evenings and in the front yard jumping over bushes and logs and Jupiter and Mars....communing with the pond ducks and the goat that lives in the woods nearby. My lawn is their breakfast table. It's simply lovely.

And they make me feel peaceful.

See those eyes?

Fear. Trust. Fear. Brilliance. Curiosity. Vulnerability.
Trust Finally.....trust
I'm learning to trust too.
The Bambi Family had returned.

And this time they didn't run away for a very long time. They posed and turned and posed some more.
I snapped and refocused and didn't exhale .....

Maybe I'd better buy camouflage jammies for this caper.

Oh Mimi, they are beautiful. You are fortunate to live where they can share the realm in peace.

Jamie - I just dare anybody to mess with them now. I'm totally attached.

Songbird - I forgot to mention there were four of them. I could never get them all in my view at once. There was a Bambi I tell ya!!

Fish - How did you get out of the dungeon??

Where I live there are plenty o' deer, but I have never seen one with antlers in the wild. You're so lucky that they come on your lawn!

Lovely pictures! I'm looking forward to seeing deer outside our cabin in the Adirondacks. We were there over 4th of July and saw a fawn behind the cabin - he (or she) ran off when it heard me out on the deck but I got a good look at him. We're going up this weekend and are staying at the cabin overnight for the first time (finally most of the improvements are finished). Should be interesting to see what wildlife we see!

Kitten - I'm calling him Big Daddy Duke with the antlers and he would certainly be some hunter's dream by next year.

I think not.

Mauigirl - Ohhh I can't wait. Be sure to take lots and lots of pictures! Have fun! Sounds like an amazing place.

What strong, handsome fellows! Do they make any noise at all? How are you protecting them from the hunters?

We cherish the deer on our land as well. They live in a safe haven and don't have to worry about hunters.

Our deer usually come out late in the evening because we feed them.

Lovely and beautiful creatures. Thank you for sharing them with us.

I am glad to know that you are healing as well. :)

There's a ghost in your photo.
Or maybe it's an angel protecting the deer... ;)

... a ghost?????????

hmmm

Hey Mimi! .... great photos :-)
Amazing how tame certain deer are. Many times I have been close enough to almost reach out and touch them.
Pink jammeeze? I can see them in the reflection of deer 2 in the last picture.

The Bambi family were racketeers from a New York family. So that's what happened...

My folks feel the same way about "their" herd. There have been new fawns every season for five years. I think there are now 8 regulars that spend time on their property.

They saunter on down the drive and into the yard, and behind the house. My stepdad has even caught them peering into the shop at him.

They don't spook easily anymore, even when my mom opens the door to tell the young bucks to stop rubbing their antlers on the trees. They just peer at her with those big eyes and wander over to the sweet grass for a nibble.

They are incredibly peaceful to watch in the evenings.

Bond - Thank you! I point and shoot.

I don't mean literally shoot!!!

Mimi Lenox said...

Charles - I'm going to look for some tomorrow...maybe I should blend into their environment since they think they live here...or maybe I live THERE.

Mimi Lenox said...

Bud - The BambINO family...ha ha ha..lol
That was truly funny!!

Autumn - They are really special.

Thom - Go.Away.

Thom - Go.Away.

Mimi Lenox said...

Gal - They make absolutely no noise until one gives this sort of "snort" noise which is a signal for them to high tail it out of here. It's fascinating to watch.

Mimi Lenox said...

Pam - Aren't they wonderful? It's magic I tell ya.

And thanks for asking...I am moving around much better. MUCH better.

Mimi Lenox said...

Dawn - WHERE??!!

Mimi Lenox said...

Dawn says there's a ghost in the photo with the chain link fence.
Do you guys see it??
I'm going to biggify....

Mimi Lenox said...

Speedy - Very funny, wiseguy...ha ha ha

Mimi Lenox said...

Travis - Thanks for sharing. It's true. We are really getting used to each other. I long for the day when they are not spooked at all. That is, until they start chewing on the geraniums...

That is pretty cool Mimi I like how you put the whol story together. The crops on the pics are nice as well!

Mimi Lenox said...
