Saturday 9 - Your Bestest Day (in Sepia)

Saturday 9: Your Bestest Day click here to play

1. What one day of your life do you think was your best day?

Except for the agony of childbirth (17 hours hard labor with no drugs. Don't ask. Allergic reaction to pain meds during labor and a knotted umbilical cord doth not a happy birth make) But since you asked, "My doctor looked at me immediately after the ordeal from hell and said, "Don't ever try to do that again."
I'm stubborn. Did I try again? Yes.
Three times.

My son is a miraculous blessing but wasn't an only child by design.
There were 3 others (2 of them baby girls) who didn't make it.
I don't think I've ever shared that on this blog before. I'll write that story one day.

2. What one day of your life do you think was your worst day?
There are days and then there are days that stretch on into events. These come to mind: the deaths of my grandparents, my babies, emotional loss of two relationships and my son's illness would certainly top the list
Can we go on to a cheerier question now? I knew I should have pencil-skirted this meme.....

3. If you had to pick the best year of your life, when was it and why?

Can I pick a decade, Sam? How about this one. I like this one.
Because life is finally good.
In a pencil skirt kinda way.

4. If you had to pick the worst year of your life, when was it and why?

1996
The whys will make me cry.
Next question.

5. Most recently, what night did you do something that you loved?

On a recent snowy night, I went outside at midnight with my camera and walked (OK. Fell!) around. But it was truly magical. Almost a sacred feeling of blanketed warmth in the midst of winter. I loved it.

But this time I didn't sit down in my pencil skirt.
It was a tad cold.

6. Most recently, what night did you do something that you hated?

Last night I did laundry. I washed the peace globes. They were getting dusty.

7. Tell us about your best relationship that did not work out.
I tried for 2 questions to pencil skirt. We're back to the serious stuff eh? The answer is recorded in the archives of this blog. When it was good it was very good.
Why was it the best?
He made me laugh.
But a trip down memory lane is not on my agenda today.
I'll pass.

8. Tell us about your worst romantic relationship that you’ve had.
"Romantic relationships"....how to define. OK. I'll go with none.
They all taught me something.

9. Is there a celebrity that you’d love to spend a “no hold bars” night with?
Homer The Palace Dog.
We'd party like it's 2009 and order an anchovy-less pizza. Then I'd invite all my worst relationship nightmares (the what-ifs, almosts, and never-in-a-million-years group) to the party for one more silly fling. I'd hire a seance gypsy to induce a group intervention. Their real selves would "appear" from the great beyond in Evolved Fast-Forward Form with the wisdom that comes with hindsight and answer any question I had for them.
You're all invited!
It should be fun.
Or not.
What the heck is under that table?

I agree, some of the questions were... just too.

Mimi Lenox said...

Kwizgiver - There's always a way to tell the truth and still "skirt" around them.
Thanks for visiting and commenting!

Thank you for your candor...and I'm so sorry for your losses. Tough questions, weren't they...

Bud Weiser, WTIT said...

Wow. I did not know. I always knew you were a tougher fighter land-on-your-feet kind of lady, but losing 2 children is horrible. God bless...

Mimi Lenox said...

Nurse - Thank you. Very tough questions but they sparked some memories I probably should write about soon.

Mimi Lenox said...

Bud- No, we never discussed it. It was many years ago but still painful to think and talk about at times.

Dawn Drover said...

Question 1 made me sad... I'm sorry for your loss Mimi. Justine is my miracle child as well. Makes them special doesn't it?

Mimi Lenox said...

Dawn - In ways I can't possibly explain here. Justine is special.

Mimi Lenox said...

Carlota - Thanks for stopping by.

Sandee said...

Wow, I learned a lot about you with this meme. I'm so sorry for all the losses.

Have a terrific day. Big hug and lotsa lovies. :)

Yeah this is a potentially heavy meme. It can bring up all sorts of sad memories. It would for me.

I'm not sure what is under that table! Yikes.

I'm very sorry about the loss of your babies. That must have been terrible. You are a strong woman and mother Mimi.

Mimi Lenox said...

Sandee - I guess I kinda let it all out. Every spring and every fall I think of my miscarriages and wonder what my babies would have been. Sorry to be such a downer today!

Hugs to you and thanks for being my friend.

Mimi Lenox said...

Ricardo - To answer it truthfully is a heavy trip for sure. I tried to put in some humor too.

The table "hand" is creepy. Yuk.

As for the losses, I think everybody has equal face time when it comes to that. We've all experienced relative "loss" in our lives. What some feel insurmountable, others can bear and vice versa. Age and experience helps to heal and hopefully, help other people going through the same thing.
Life can be damn hard at times.

I mean it when I say this is the BEST time in my life - for sooo many reasons.

Ever since our paths crossed, I thought you were a wondeful person. Yet after reading this post, my opinion of you has just risen through the roof. You are a truly amazing lady with an enormously warm heart and I am really proud to be able to call you a friend :)

I give you major points not only for doing this meme (which is a toughie no matter how you skirt the questions) but for your candor in writing about your losses. I've never lost a child and hope to be long gone before any of them are as I can't even imagine the pain of such a thing. You are a strong, strong woman even without the pencil skirt to hide behind.

I don't think I could this meme at all. It would bring up way too many things that I would rather not think about if given the chance. You are a brave woman!

you were very truthful sorry about your losses this past september watched my daughter go through a delivery with many problems as well

Wow. Those answers really come from the heart.

I personally like the one about spending a "no holds bar" night with Homer The Palace Dog, seance and all.

Charles Gramlich said...

I'm so sorry about your daughters. my mom lost a child, but she had five others. It must have been very hard on you.

Unknown said...

Yea. loosing children is terrible.
It gets a bit better in time, but I still have times I miss them.

You can find my answers ::here::

Have a nice weekend.

Mimi Lenox said...

Graham - I don't think of myself as "amazing" or any of those things. Human. A bit transparent. Vulnerable. Unable to censor.

I am proud to call you my friend as well.

Mimi Lenox said...

Linda - Nope. Not brave. Writing is my salvation.

I think you've weathered some pretty tough things, Duchess Linda. And now raising a teenager on your own is no small task. Hugs to you.

Mimi Lenox said...

shopannies - I lost the ability to have more children at the age of 31. My son is a blessing and a true miracle. I hope your daughter is doing well these days.

Mimi Lenox said...

Southern - Homer is a constant companion and party animal!
But I think I would truly enjoy the seance. It would be enlightening, don't you think?

Mimi Lenox said...

Charles - It was hard on me and my once-upon-a-husband. I had to learn to separate my own guilt for not being able to do what every woman should be able to do at a very young age. Miscarriage is an unspoken grief. Unfortunately, for some who aren't comfortable talking about it, I seem to want to focus on it now. Perhaps it's time to write the story.

Mimi Lenox said...

P.S. Charles - Argue with the muse? I think not.
You should know how that is!

Mimi Lenox said...

Laane - I'm sorry for your loss. A lot of women talked about babies and children in this meme today.

Speedcat Hollydale said...

AHHHHH !!!!!!!

I just left a very long (and good) comment for a change and blogger ate it ... now I digress

Speedcat Hollydale said...

It was about 1985 - and good stuff (((smile)))

Mimi Lenox said...

Speedy - Bring it back!

Mark said...

Thanks for sharing. These do make a person think.

Jean-Luc Picard said...

Some good answers, Mimi...memories make up what we are now.

Mimi Lenox said...

Mark - They certainly did.

Mimi Lenox said...

Jean-luc - A hard meme and you are right.

Patti said...

I'm so sorry to read about the loss of your three babies, Mimi. I can't imagine that agony.

You deserve a lot of credit for being courageous enough to write this.

Patti said...

P.S. that photo of an 1898 seance in London is cool, Mimi. Interesting group gathered there.

Mimi Lenox said...

Patti - I do not think writing it down is courageous. Re-living it through the writing is hard but so worth it in the long run as I've found with other things in my life. The writing is therapeutic and healing.

I LOVE this old seance photo too!
