Wrong Boots. Wrong Tree

It's six days 'til Christmas and the temperature is 73 degrees in the south. I am not amused. I know I shouldn't be complaining and have pity on you poor New England/Midwest bloggers but still.....it's Christmas. There should be snow.
We are supposed to get an
"ice-snow-maybe-sort-of-could-be-might-be-a-flake-winter-storm-event" on Christmas Eve. The ice gods better throw down a few Popsicles from Heaven in a hurry if that's going to happen. But I read somewhere that God created the world in 6 days so....I suppose anything is possible. It is the season of miracles! Right? So I thought I'd bring a little winter on the blog from a January 08 post when yours truly went slip sliding down Bloggingham mountain.
Snow! Glorious snow!

This is what I said then when snow wasn't just a fantasy on my blog.
I told you I smelled snow........

Well. A little.
Half the population of my minute metropolis hustled to the grocery store yesterday (moi included) for the big storm. This is it. There are ten snowflakes on my hat.

Does that look like a big storm to you?

But I did manage to get a few pics. And it was fun to frolic and roam outside. I haven't visited my woods much since ...well....since you know. And I wore a red coat! I was hard to miss and just asking for trouble.

So I rolled out the red carpet for Bloggingham's first snowfall, hunkered down in matching gloves and hat like any good pencil skirt worth her mascara would.....and waited.

And waited.
And waited.
And waited.......

I had a story to report.
This is what happened.

I fell down a lot.
I dropped things. Lost my balance picking them up. Fell down again. The camera got wet. My behind got soaked. My fingers froze. My scarf got dirty. And I ate all the beanie-weenies in my pocket before lunchtime.
The only nut in the forest was me so the birds flew south.

I'm so glad I was there to film this momentous - and lackluster - occasion.
Can you feel the excitement?
I stayed in this tree until nightfall anticipating the storm of the century, bracing myself for months and months stuck inside the castle with nothing to eat but tainted snow cream, hoping that CBS would call and ask me to cover the crisis - but the big flakes never showed up.

What I won't do for a story.

As you can see, the back of my coat has more snow on it than the ground. Wait! Was that a flake I saw? You see it.... don't you?

I can smell it, I tell ya! I can smell it a mile away.
It's a gift.

What?! I'm the first commenter again?! I'm not stalking, really.

I'm one of those "midwest" people. The snow is part of the reason I'm turning Tarheel.

You're cute and all, but the snow and ice are over rated. It's my opinion, and I'm slipping on it.

Ferd - Snow is a romantic notion. And I would never mistake you for a stalker. Always glad to see you - first or last.

I think your post is lovely .. even though I have had enough snow to last me a year or two, somehow it takes on a "Blogginham Appeal" over here. Your photos are always the best, and have a definate Mimi touch to them.
Thanks for taking us with on another adventure!

(maybe you need some moon boots with better traction) :)

Every winter living here in the deep south, I long for snow--but it never does. It's semi warm here right now lol! I actually prefer cold weather to the hot, humid environment I live in. Thanks for sharing your snow scenes Mimi--I almost felt like I was there:)

We would love to see snow once and pounce into a snowdrift! You do red good, Mimi!

So, first it's falling ornaments, now it's falling Mimi Pencil Skirts... What next, the sky? ;-)

I think I scraped more snow off my car before coming to work than you frolicked through in the entire hillside. At least I'm a good snow driver - I know just how to skid in the right direction...

I like the snow - at least until December 26th! And...some of my best friends are flakes!

I left work at 1:30 on Tuesday, and got home at 3 p.m., because of snow. Oh, it usually only takes me 35-40 minutes to get to work.

THEN... yesterday we had between 1/4 and 1/2 inch of ICE on everything.

UGH! We can trade palaces for a little while, if you want ;-)

Why am I up early on a Saturday? Why not sleep in on my weekend? Because I'm a stupid idiot and have agreed to work four jobs... someone needs to knock some sense into me. Oh well, I'm off to Job #4 now.

I hope you smell it where you are, Mimi. I certainly don't want you to smell around where I live! I like the sunshine, thankyouverymuch. Now that the cool temperatures have arrived, I'm in heaven.

Methinks the Queen is growing a bit dottie as the years go by. She seems to have forgotten the geographical location of Bloggingham. There isn't supposed to be snow in the kingdom! This is THE SOUTH after all and the main attraction is our temperate climate.

My kids and grandkids all live in areas where they are getting at least a foot of snow today. I'm just as happy to be visiting with them by telephone...under the circumstances.

I'm not fond of snow. I'm the sort without balance and feel a naturtal urge to fall down a lot.

I want snow! It was back in the 1960's, the last time we had snow on Christmas day. I still remember it :O) I love it!

I am glad to see that you can make the best out of any situation. As for me, snow in Texas is very cold and wet and I can do without it. I need sunshine.

Merry Christmas.

Sitting here on the West Coast first with two inches. Then we got two more. Now we are promised high winds and a hammering of white fluffy tonight.

It's on its way I promise. You will see snow. It just got hung up for a bit in Washington.

Speedy - Thank you. Ordering "moonboots"....I'll ask Santa.

Misty - FOUR jobs? I can barely keep up with one.
And ice is just ugly.
Get some rest. When do you have time to sleep?

Mimi Lenox said...

Desert - I promise not to smell it where you live.

Lee - I'm "dottie"??! What the heck is dottie?
Queen is going to faint.

Mimi Lenox said...

WHO is Dottie?!!

Mimi Lenox said...

Jean-luc - Please don't fall down. It's no fun....unless you're in the snow! And then it's fun.
I love snow.

Linda said...

I wish that there was some way that I could crate up some of the stuff that's sitting out in my front yard and ship it down to you for a White Bloggingham Christmas - Lord knows we have enough to spare and more on the way! And, unfortunately, I don't have to go out to the woods to find it though that's where I'd rather it was instead of covering my steps and car!

Mimi Lenox said...

Linda - I've been hearing about your weather. Your pictures are beautiful....at least it's a photographer's dream. But I know the shoveling and slickness is no fun.

Travis Cody said...

You're welcome to some of the stuff that has us iced in. As I have said before, it's lovely to look at from indoors but pretty skeery when you try to get out and drive on icy roads.

Julia Phillips Smith said...

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha...! Your 'minute metropolis' charged the stores for supplies for ten flakes... *wiping my eyes*

That's a good one. Loved those pictures, though.

Mimi - how'd you like an award? A Great Attitude and/or Gratitude Award. Pop by and pick it up!

Mimi Lenox said...

Travis - Your area has been hard hit in a weird way lately. Be safe and snuggly...

Mimi Lenox said...

Julia - They robbed us! I know!
I will pop by and pick it up...thank you so much. How lovely.

You have had a momentous year Your Majesty and deserve a wild celebration at the castle this evening. May the coming year bring peace to us all and a realm where our benevolent Queen's will is done.

Happy Hogmanay
