Spambots? UPDATE to the UPDATE (Friday pm)

SOLUTION: Remove SITEMETER Code from your blog temporarily and all is well. If you have a sitemeter code on your blog tonight, no one who uses IE can read your blog.

Earlier UPDATE: Many people are now having trouble viewing blogspot blogs in Internet Explorer. The help boards are full of this complaint. I can't view my own blog and most of my bloggy buddies without getting a message that reads "Operation Aborted" and the blog disappears.
There is some talk in the help threads that it is a Sitemeter code problem (as if this isn't complicated enough...) I shall investigate.
Apparently, Blogger and Sitemeter are having a nervous breakdown. (Pencil Skirt is on the case.)

UPDATE! SITEMETER IS DOWN. When I removed the sitemeter code the problem corrected and my blog is visible again.
UPDATE on SPAMBOTS: Blogger has issued an apology and is working on the problem. Sigh. There are a lot of unhappy bloggy people in the world tonight.

Empress Bee posted about it this morning here and I've been asked to let you know that some in our blogger community have been locked out of their blogs. Linda of Are We There Yet? and Sandee at Comedy Plus have been mistakenly flagged as spam blogs by the inhuman spambot robots at Blogger.

Apparently there are hundreds of bloggers in the same boat this morning. These ladies - and Sarge Charlie - will be posting again as soon as possible.
I'm sure Blogger is working on it. Or let's hope so.
So keep leaving comments on their blogs if you will and pray that the Blogger gods find a miracle soon - or they are all going to the dungeon.

This is Mimi Pencil Skirt reporting live from the lovely land of the spybots.

Jean-luc - Glad you let her know here.

Bee - Got it. NO CAKE.

Thank you so much for posting this. I hope to be up soon if not I will follow your advice on Miss Bee's blog.

Mimi Lenox said...

Sarge - You are welcome. I hope it gets worked out soon. Very frustrating.

This stinks! The other day I couldn't comment on Odat's blog. But that was a different issue I guess.

Mimi Lenox said...

Patti - Who knows?

Wacky Mom - I've missed you!

Blogger, you are being BAD! Let our friends free!

We've been locked out too for the last 24 hours. Our Friday post didn't automatically come up at midnight as usual, but we were able to click on the "Publish now" link before we got locked out.

Must have been a bad day today at Blogger Badrock -I wasn't locked out of my blog but my reader was totally mucked up almost all day -til around 8 p.m.! I see Bee has 2 new posts up now, according to my faithful reader, which thankfully, is up and running again - and I am probably going to go cross-eyed or blind, trying to read and get caught up again on my favorite bloggers tonight!

You tell 'me Daisy.

Mimi Lenox said...

Eric and Flynn - Not you too! Just hang around the Castle if you wish. I'll brew some coffee 'til it's over...

Mimi Lenox said...

Jeni - I cannot get on my own blog now. Internet Explorer will not open it tonight. I can't visit a few others either. The same thing happens. Arghhh....

Let's hope they get all this straightened out soon. I did see a notice from Blogger Help with an apology to everyone and that they are working on it.

Thanks for stopping by!

I appear to be unlocked though I've yet to try to post anything - however, I will be alleviating that momentarily!

Thanks for all your great detective work, Super Sleuth!

Hi Mimi,
I'm sorry to hear about this madness :
I'm thinking, I don't think that I have a Sitemeter on mine...Or else, I'm missing something.

Mimi, just to say that my Needs meme is UP on my blog now.
It was a RIOT :)

Hugs xxx

Ciera said...

Hi! I found your blog through JLP and did the meme from the other day as well. Is it any site meter that causes problems? I have one on my "Other Side of Reality" blog and haven't had any problems.

Sameera Ansari said...

That was useful information.Thank heavens I don't use sitemeter!

Have a good weekend :)

Mimi Lenox said...

Linda - Glad to hear it!

Tish - That'll teach ya to leave..

Barbara - I will be there shortly to see your madness...Thanks and glad you enjoyed it.

Mimi Lenox said...

ciera - Glad to make your cyber-acquaintance. It is only SITEMETER.COM. If you use Statcounter or others there doesn't appear to be a problem.
Going to read your answers....

Sameera - They are still down this morning if you use Internet Explorer. I think they just lost a lot of business. Ugh.
Thanks for visiting.
Please come again.

Patti - That is no joke. I actually enjoy solving mysteries.....except when they are leveled at me or my friends. Those I don't like so much but will tenaciously try to help if I can.

I read Agatha Christie's Mousetrap a million times as a teenager. I really do enjoy "figuring things out" (some say I should have been a psychologist) but I've truly had enough of this blogger mess let me tell ya.

Olga pointed me here ... I thought I wrecked my computer with a download. Glad I went to bed instead of tearing through my tools / settings.

Wheww!!

Mimi, do think that dropping links in comments will raise flags with spiders now??

I usually leave links like this ... http://whatever.com

Just wondrin`

Oh a blogcastrophe whilst I've been away!

Gosh, all this was going on and I wasn't even aware of it 'cuz I was napping!

Is it okay to have Sitemeter on now? I can see my blog and I have one ...

Lux said...

Oops, I'm on Firefox. I'll go check in IE.

having worked around code-jockeys most of my adult life I know that any changes will have bugs that are completely undistingusihable unless and until the change goes global.

when ya think about all the stuff the software does RIGHT...it ain't too shabby!

Mimi Lenox said...

Speedy -
Whatever dot com? Now you know I have to check it out. I don't know about the comment link flags but I do know that links in comments are ways for hackers to get in. It's a flaw in Blogger's system. Beware.

Mimi Lenox said...

Akelamalu - It's all your fault. If you hadn't gone to Greece none of this would have happened.

And Sophie is such a beautiful name....

Mimi Lenox said...

Lux - How goes it with you? I still can't access Sitemeter.

Katherine - You do have a point. Much goes right too!

I encountered this problem last night and couldn't figure out what was going on. I never thought to check in with blogger about it.

Duh me!

Anyway, I figured it was a temporary problem and decided to shut down completely and spend the evening with my Lady.

All seems well today as I try and catch up with all my bluddies (that's blog + buddies).

Sandee said...

It was awful Mimi. I got unlocked pretty quickly it seems. Just before we left for the boat. It was great not to see that awful red message from blogger saying my site was locked. Thanks for all you did. I didn't know about sitemeter though. Yikes. Big hug and lotsa lovies. :)
