Monday Mimisms: When The Lights Go Out

Cue romantic music (listen you minions in the dungeon! Pay attention! I said CUE the music!!!)

Sorry about that.

It was dark.
It was candley.
The castle seethed with ambiance.
It was spooky.
It was stormy.
It was..... soggy?

Ever find yourself caught in the middle of the Wizard of Oz?
Now I understand why Dorothy didn't have a boyfriend.
All those flying monkeys doth not a romance make.
Neither do flying tables.... Duck!

I watched it fly straight up in the air like a rocket and disappear over the railing. Never to be seen or heard from again.
Well..there was the crash.

Did you hear that dear hunky one? Such a nice steady deeply insane romantic rain. And who cares really if we lose power? I'm sure we can find lots to talk about......smmooooooochhh......Was that a...is that a.....oops those clouds look really horrible. "

Forget sweetcakes.

Dialing.
"Mom?"
"Yes dear?"
"I just saw the patio table and umbrella fly over the railing from the window. It was just like that scene in the Wiz when the house went flying by the window with the cows and pigs and ole' ugly Miss Gulch on her bicycle except I didn't see her this time it just all happened so fast and really I think I should get downstairs and take cover or something like that except there's a story to write and my shoes are wet and where the blasted did I put the camera batteries and oh great Mom....?! the power is gone. Are we having a ...a... a...."
"Tornado watch, Mimi. It's called a tornado watch. Turn on the television!!"
(Hunky One, this is no time for romance. Will you stop trying to find more candles and turn on the......)
"Very funny, Mom."

She was laughing.
I was not amused.

Exactly 90 seconds later sheets of rain and crazy high winds blew all things movable from the deck. Notice the swinging plant holding on for the ride of his lonely little plant life. Just like that scene from the Kansas prairie I tell you!
So I - being the dedicated reporter that I am - donned my pencil pack gear and stepped outside to make a video as it nearly blew me away risking life and pencil limb to get this footage for you. (cuing violins in the dungeon.....) And this morning there is no sound, no video. And it was so dramatic!

Who let that dog in here.....

Notice the umbrella & table in left corner.
It is now in a million broken pieces.

There was no power for the next six hours. Thank goodness there's Sweetcakes. I'm sure we'll find something to do. Sweetie? Baby cakes? Invisible man of my dreams? Phantom of the castle??? As soon as it stops raining and I untangle your fingers from my hair (I hope my mother isn't reading this..) we'll have a picnic on the deck with marshmallows and steaks. I'm a great cook ya know! Just let me get rid of this soggy camera and freshen up a bit....

Where did he go?
Sigh.

I hate that dog.

Oh my! You were nearly swept away, Your Majesty!!

I know that's not the kind of swept away you had in mind for the long weekend.

I'm thankful you and Bloggingham survived in one piece.

Mimi Lenox said...

Princess Patti - That sweepin' thing can be tricky if ya know what I mean.....(grin)

Your Majesty, if I may, as a loyal subject, might I suggest that a report about good tornado watch sex would have been preferred to a report about the weather? Just sayin', with all due respect.

And it seems the dog is no help at all. Isn't his job to keep the Studly One ready at all times?

I love a little sturm unt drang

Maybe you can sell amnesty cards to get a new table and umbrella?

What a sad day. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that mess all alone.

Sandee said...

I'm glad you are okay and the palace made it through this awful storm. The patio furniture can be replaced easily enough. Having a storm on the 4th of July weekend just seems so very wrong. Just saying. Have a great day sweetie. Big hug and lotsa lovies. :)

Sorry about the bad weather.

Hey! I like that bookcase thingy. That's really cool!

Dawn Drover said...

OH my poor Queen.... you could have been hurt! Didn't it occur to you to hide in the dungeon until it was safe to come out?
Glad to hear you weathered the storm. .. selling amnesty cards might not be a bad idea!

Ferd - You do have a point about the dog. He throws 'em out as fast I invite em in! He's a tad jealous I think.

Tornado Watch Sex?
Why didn't I think of that??!

Mimi Lenox said...

Charles - So do I...unless I'm in the middle of the horror!

Mimi Lenox said...

Julie - Who said I was alone? Ahem...

Mimi Lenox said...

Sandee - Seriously. It was a little weird to thinks flying around. The table is shattered and the potted plants. But there was a certain sense of raw adventure about the whole thing. I find myself in strangest circumstances sometimes....Thanks for the lovies. Sending them back to you as well.

Mimi Lenox said...

Travis - Thanks. I saw it and had to have one. You should too! It is so you.

Mimi Lenox said...

Dawn - I had Sweetcakes to protect me.....didn't you read between the lines???!! Sigh.

Course. I could be just pencil skirtin' ya....

Daisy said...

Big, giant storms are very, very scairty. But the candley part sounds good.

Mimi Lenox said...

Daisy - "Candley" parts are always the BEST part. You wouldn't have been afraid, would ya Daisy?

Vinny "Bond" Marini said...

Lions and tigers and bears and ghosts and puppies and flying tables OH MY

Margo Moon said...

The Muse is just camping out at your place! Very nice. Love the 'candley.' Love the 'pencil limbs.'

Dang, just love the whole piece. Wave my regards to the Muse, okay?

Your Highness: I'm glad the Castle weathered the storm in relatively good shape. Just think, you had the castle ramparts to protect you. I was in a tiny little camper when those storms blew over my section of your kingdom!

Akelamalu said...

Crikey that sounded scary!

Mimi Lenox said...

Bond - That dog is too big to put in a basket and whisk away on my bike and he's ruining my love life!!

Mimi Lenox said...

Margo - Waving to the muse, Margo. I'll be over soon to read the first chapter of your book. You guys should too! (Thus spaketh the Queen.Ahem....)

Mimi Lenox said...

Lee - I cannot imagine being in a camper when those storms came through. It was wicked. I'll bet that was scary.

Akelamalu - It was!

Patti said...

How can such a sweet and loyal doggie ruin your love life?

I'm starting to feel sorry for Homer.

Mimi Lenox said...

Princess Patti - Homer? Sweet? Ha! That dog is on a secret mission of mutiny at all times!

Maybe I should get a cat...

Patti said...

Cats are nice. And loyal in their own way.

Mimi Lenox said...

Patti - It's too late. They all read my blog!

Patti said...

haha!

Bud Weiser, WTIT said...

Terrific post, but you know that. But don't cook for him when he shows up. And don't let him on the deck during a storm...

Mimi Lenox said...

Bud - You know you loved my cooking... right up to the food poisoning part. Let's just forget that shall we?

Odat said...

You didn't follow the Yellow Brick Road!!!!! Tsk Tsk!

Peace

Mimi Lenox said...

Odat - I knew I was forgetting something!

Oh. My. Gosh. You are a flipp'n riot. But, what gives with the KS inuendos? Dude. I'm sooo from there. Well, maybe you're not making fun. maybe I'm just sensitive. That could be. Who really is from KS anyway besides me. Nobody. I understand this. REgardless, Bloggingham Palace is quite beautiful regardless of high gusts of wind and heavy sheets of falling rain. You. Have. Leaves! *jumping for joy* Jealous, I signoff. Lovingly, however, and still with lingering laughter.

Mimi Lenox said...

Rhonda - NO digs at Kansas. Of course not! I love the Wizard of Oz and all the prairie references that go with it. Just a coincidence tonight that your blog post was about being in Kansas and I was trying to be funny about "the avatar behind the curtain" in my comment and then you are here reading about Dorothy and the Wizard references in this post! No wonder!

Yes, Bloggingham has acres of trees and I dearly love them. Even in the middle of storms.
Glad I made you laugh! That was my intention. Your comments always crack me up!

Unknown said...

Rock on, Sister M. Happy you're in my world. Maybe you could share some of those trees though.

I'm just say'n.

*smoochies*
