Australia's Crocodile Man Has Died

So sad to hear of the death of Steve Irwin, 44, known as the Crocodile Hunter. Apparently killed by a stingray earlier today while filming a documentary in Queensland, he was admired and loved as an entertainer and tireless promoter of Australia. He is survived by American-born wife Terri, an 8-year-old-daughter and 3-year-old son.

In an article by David Williams of the Sydney Morning Herald (smh.com.au Sept. 4, 2006) Ross Coleman, at the Institute of Marine Science in Sydney is quoted as saying ...it was "quite rare" for someone to die from contact with a stingray and he couldn't recall hearing of another incident. Oh wow. That is a tragedy. His TV shows are popular among many people here too.

Thanks for the heads up.
